Illumination event – 26 November 2015

From 26 November the City of Lights radiates more 

brilliantly than ever! 

The start of Advent and the opening of "Live on Ice" 

will be celebrated with a festive event organised 

jointly by the associations Weihnachten in Luzern, 

Weihnachtsbeleuchtung Luzern, Luzern Tourismus, 

"Live on Ice" and the KKL Luzern. Get in on the 

action and enjoy an unforgettable evening featuring 

figure skating in a superb atmosphere right by Lake 

Lucerne.

"Live on Ice" and "Winterwunderland Luzern" –

26 November to mid-January

Internationally acclaimed light artist Gerry 

Hofstetter creates a Christmas and winter mood at 

the heart of the city of Lucerne again this year. The 

ice rink in front of the KKL Luzern will be bathed 

in Christmas lights once again from 26 November 

2015, putting young and old alike in the Christmas 

spirit. Soak up the Advent mood right through to 

mid-January with fairy lights, ice rink, catering and 

a huge, sparkling Christmas tree in front of the KKL 

Luzern. Glide serenely through the Advent over 

the ice: you can now enjoy this wonderful winter 

atmosphere with lots events and attractions right 

through to mid-January.

«Lozärner Läbchueche» (Lucerne Gingerbread)

Ingredients:

2 1/2 dl   cream 

2 dl   pear butter 

1/2 dl    Träsch or kirsch

100 g   sugar 

40 g   candied orange and lemon peel 

1/2 tsp   cinnamon

1/2 tsp   aniseed 

One pinch each of  nutmeg and clove powder

1   pinch of salt 

1 tsp   bicarbonate of soda or baking powder 

500 g   whole grain flour 

1 1/2 dl   milk 

2 tbsp   pear butter for topping

The Christmas spirit of Lucerne in your own home

Steps:

Lightly whip the cream and mix in the specified amounts 

of pear butter, Träsch or kirsch, sugar and spices. Add the 

sieved flour with bicarbonate of soda or baking powder. 

Now pour in the milk and blend to form a soft dough. Place 

the mixture in a pile on a circular baking tray and bake in a 

preheated oven for 40 to 45 minutes at 180 degrees. Finally, 

spread pear butter over the gingerbread while it is still warm.

Serve with fresh butter, pear butter or slightly sweetened 

whipping cream.
