Loyola News Friday 11th December 2020 Issue: week 14
Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam To the Greater Glory of
God
2020 has been a very challenging year for
everyone and I am so grateful for all that,
Loyola, as a school community, has done
to support one another in and out of
school. I am in awe of how our boys, staff
and parents continue to publicly model
such amazing resilience and positivity.
You all continue to show great generosity
of spirit and you have made me very
proud to be the Headmistress of Loyola.
Thank you everyone. To make up for
things being a little “different” the fun at
the Christmas parties has been infectious,
the Christmas lunch tasted all the better
for being together and the sheer joy of
having all our classes in school for the last
full week has been brilliant. Thank you
also for the kind gifts to myself, and staff,
they are very much appreciated and kind
of you. I hope that you all ensure that
over the Christmas period you rest, relax
and enjoy a break with your families.
Happy Christmas and I look forward to
seeing you in the New Year!
God Bless and keep safe. Mrs K Anthony
Thank you Eddie for
donating his winning
lottery money to Crisis
at Christmas – how
thoughtful and kind of
him!
PP1 and PP2 told us about the story of the Nativity. They did so well
learning their lines and acting the many different parts.
Book: Geronimo
Author: David Walliams
Genre: Funny Age: 3-7
About: Geronimo is a baby
penguin, who has a dream
to learn to fly. Everyone knows
that penguins cannot fly, but it
does not stop Geronimo from
trying to learn! With the help
of his family and friends, will Geronimo achieve his
dream? This is a lovely, festive and heart warming story.
It teaches children of resilience and determination, at
the same time as being incredibly comical and beautifully
illustrated! By Miss Cooper
Congratulations to
Mofi on passing his
grade
1 violin exam!
As a school, each half term, we will focus on different Jesuit values and qualities which will help us become aware of how we can make the world we live in a better place. Our focus for this half term is:
“to be compassionate towards others and to be loving through our actions and words”
Pupils who have demonstrated that they are upholding their responsibilities of being a member of Loyola are: Thaddeus (LK): For always sharing with his friends. Spotted by: Mrs Higgs Smith
Ashwin (PP2): For asking after a member of staff when they returned from being unwell and checking that they were okay. Spotted by: Mrs Deniz

Christmas is here,
Happy children sing with joy,
Reindeer land on the roofs of houses,
In their beds, children are fast
asleep,
Snoring loudly and dreaming of their
presents,
Tonight the man in red comes, with a
sack full of toys,
Mince pies are eaten,
As reindeer munch on carrots,
Santa delivers your presents, under
the tree.
Dancing with joy, children wake to
find presents at the end of their
beds,
Amazement fills them as their
presents are revealed,
Yay… shout the children.

Please note that if a pupil tests
positive for COVID-19, having
developed symptoms within 48
hours of being in school, (Sat 11th
or Sun 12th Dec) the school must
be contacted so that we can
assist with track
and trace. Fingers
crossed we don’t
hear from you!
Word of the Week “foreseeable”
Can you find out what it means and use it in a
sentence?
In January, the boys will be returning in winter
uniform including their blazers. We understand
that Forest Casual Wear will be closed for most
of the holiday period and this may make things
difficult for some. We will therefore, allow a
phased return of blazers up to February half
term. Thank you.
Congratulations
to Dylan (Rec) on
becoming a big
brother. What a
perfect Christmas
bundle of joy for
the family!
Christ was born on Christmas day,
Holly shines from trees that bloom in May,
Reindeer spirited through the night,
Icicles freeze as snow falls from blight,
Santa rides in his slay and shouts, “Ho Ho Ho,” all through
the hours of darkness,
Mary sleeps as angel Gabriel speaks to her in her dream,
Advent is a time for remembering Christ,
Saint Nicholas thought in his bed how to do the Christmas
miracle,
Trees cut down for Christmas day,
Rudolph the reindeer is taking a test flight in May,
Evergreen trees last forever and never lose their leaves,
Elves pop up everywhere especially on your shelves.
