All Things New
In May we are celebrating the “New.” We’ve got a new Spring,
we’ve got a new summer on the way, and a new season before us.
God has a lot to say about “new” in His Word!:
Rom. 6:4-We were therefore buried with him through baptism into
death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through
the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
Rom. 7:6-But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been
released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit,
and not in the old way of the written code.
I Cor. 5:7-Get rid of the old yeast, so that you may be a new
unleavened batch—as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb,
has been sacrificed.
I Cor. 11:25-In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying,
“This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you
drink it, in remembrance of me.”
II Cor. 5:17-Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has
come: The old has gone, the new is here!
…these are just a few of the N.T. passages that deal with the
concept of “new.” We have lived in the past for too long. Satan
wants our old ways to creep back in and to drag us back down.
However, if we are in Christ, we are new creatures, we are a new
creation. And when we live like one, it can be very attractive to
someone who is looking for hope… someone who has doubts and is
looking for answers… someone who is burdened with pain and needs
comfort and healing. Our desire is that this spring you will let God’s
“newness” overtake you and make you whole… and you will live His
“new” life all the days of yours!
Blessings, Jeff
YM UPDATE It’s Just About Here!
The summer months are upon us, all except for the last few weeks of school. JAM,
Baccalaureate, and Mother’s Day are all behind us, with finals, Sectionals, and
graduation being all that’s really left of the 2013-14 school year. To kick things
off, my family will be hosting our yearly Memorial Day cookout on Monday the 26th
beginning at 1 pm. It’ll end when everyone leaves or the food is all gone. So to
make sure it lasts as long as it needs to, if you’d be so kind, bring along a side or
dessert to add to the munchies merriment. We usually have a pretty good time and
we’re hoping for more of the same. It’ll be a good, informal setting to meet some
of the new faces we’ve been seeing around church over the last few months. So
join us as we get geared up for the summer, even though for some of us, it’ll only be
a trial run as school will be in session for another week. At least there isn’t a foot
of snow on the ground and there’s no negative sign in front of the temp!
The youth group garage sale will take place on May 16-17. I know this hits most
people on Wednesdays but if you have items still to bring on Thursday, go ahead
and bring them (we have room). We’ll still take just about anything but please,
don’t bring us tube TVs or old computer monitors. Toys, furniture, board games,
home and lawn décor, etc. are all great. Thanks in advance for supporting our
students.
The Youth Group will be back at the Carpenter’s Inn for regular meetings this
Sunday, after a few weeks at the church building. We’ll put some finishing touches
on our last series and get ready to roll into Summer mode in June. It looks to be a
fun and active summer for our older students!
This summer, we’re going to keep some of the good momentum going with our JAM
aged kiddos and their families. Those at the JAM party last week got a postcard
with the summer schedule, but for those who didn’t, make sure to include these
dates on your summer calendars: June 25, Cornbelters game at the Corn Crib; July
23, “Drive In” Movie Night at LCC 5:30-8:30 pm; August 13, Pool party at
REPLEX, 6:30-7:30. Call us in the office (309-962-6491) to get more info and to
RSVP for the events.
Blessings,
Joe
THANK YOU!

SIX + TWO
What is Six + Two? Six people (couples or individuals) invite two other people (one couple or two individuals) to join them for fellowship and to get acquainted. They can meet at someone’s home, a park, or a restaurant. Then a few weeks later, the process is repeated inviting new people. Families can also be included. We are looking for people to volunteer to make up the groups of Six! A sign-up sheet is in the foyer.

NOTE from Sunday, May 4, 2014 - 9:45 a.m. Pastors Jeff and Joe. My name is Martin Lien, and I attended your 8:00 a.m. service just minutes ago. I wanted to drop you a line before I pulled out. It was a wonderful service!!!! I am a truck driver, mostly local in Minnesota near my home and family, but sometimes I need to drive over the road. I was bumming out last night—missing my precious wife and kids and knowing I would miss worshipping with them in our church, Cornerstone, in Litchfield, MN. As I was heading west on I-74, I was praying—asking God for a church at least near the truck stop where I would be. Knowing there usually wasn’t a church near, I would be willing to walk a few miles to worship and fellowship with other believers. I pulled into Love’s last night into a parking space—facing your wonderful church just a few hundred feet from me!! :-) God is soooo good!! Wonderful welcoming people, worship, prayer, communion, message, fellowship!! Thank you! I will stop again when passing through :-) I will pray for you all and your wonderful church body. Thanks, again! Marty from MinneSNOWta 636 East 3rd Street Litchfield, MN 55355 320-434-0827

WE NEED YOUR HELP!
We are in the process of updating our Church Directory and need information. If you and your family are not in our current Directory, please contact the Church Office so arrangements can be made to get your picture and other pertinent information.
If you are in our current Directory, but your address and/or phone numbers have changed, we need that information also.
All Allyson and her friends want is a peaceful, grown-up evening of dinner and conversation. . .a long-needed Mom’s
night out. But in order to enjoy high heels, adult conversation, and food not served in a paper bag, they need their husbands
to watch the kids for three hours - what could go wrong? Staring Patricia Heaton, Sean Astin, Sarah Drew, and Trace Adkins, Mom’s Night Out is a true-to-life family comedy
celebrating the beautiful mess called parenting.
Rated PG - Mom’s Night Out opens May 9th.
