The Cornerstone | Issue #10 | November 2017 November a Pivotal Month For LCC By the time you read this, the calendar will have turned to November, the time change will be about ready to go into effect, and temperatures will have plummeted. With all that being said there are several things to love about Fall: Our National Missionary Convention the I.C.O.M. (coming to the Peoria Civic Center on November 16th —19th). The tree leaves turning colors (we didnt have trees like this in San Diego). Illini basketball (even though were young & have a new coach-looking forward to Le Roy Panther basketball, too)! Some of the best menu items are served in Nov. (turkey, stuffing, cranberry stuff, pumpkin pie, green bean entrees, all kinds of mashed potato creations, rolls, etc.). More guests visiting our church and considering us long-term (keep inviting em). Great fellowship ops (Thanksgiving meal on November 12th, Community Service on November 19th). More Mens Breakfasts (November 1st and November 15th). Passing the 2/3’s completion point on the current Habitat House (Kellys ready)! Future Planning for our Church (were growing & God has big plans for LCC)! I hope to see you & yours at many of these upcoming events. Call the church office for more info on any of these outstanding events…& Happy November LCC! Jeff Mayfield - Senior Minister - jeff.mayfi[email protected]

November a Pivotal Month For LCC

By the time you read this, the calendar will have turned to November, the time change will be about ready to go into effect, and temperatures will have plummeted. With all that being said there are several things to love about Fall:

Our National Missionary Convention the I.C.O.M. (coming to the Peoria Civic Center on November 16th —19th).

The tree leaves turning colors (we didn’t have trees like this in San Diego).

Illini basketball (even though we’re young & have a new coach-looking forward to Le Roy Panther basketball, too)!

Some of the best menu items are served in Nov. (turkey, stuffing, cranberry stuff, pumpkin pie, green bean entrees, all kinds of mashed potato creations, rolls, etc.).

More guests visiting our church and considering us long-term (keep inviting ‘em).

Great fellowship ops (Thanksgiving meal on November 12th, Community Service on November 19th).

More Men’s Breakfasts (November 1st and November 15th).

Passing the 2/3’s completion point on the current Habitat House (Kelly’s ready)!

Future Planning for our Church (we’re growing & God has big plans for LCC)!

I hope to see you & yours at many of these upcoming events. Call the church office for more info on any of these outstanding events…& Happy November LCC!

Falling, Fall, Fell, Fallen...

It’s here, and for real this time! Fall is upon us! Fields are clearing out, leaves are piling up, and the temps are finally in the “Brisk” category. As we get into a new season, make sure to check out our seasonal events and upcoming get-togethers.

The Student International Conference on Missions is coming up November 17th-19th in Pe-oria. This is an uplifting and challenging weekend conference with a worldwide missions emphasis. S.I.C.O.M. is for Jr. and Sr. high students but is held in conjunction with the reg-ular missionary convention. You can register for I.C.O.M. via the link on our website or call the office. S.I.C.O.M. attendees can register with me for $40 (needs to be done ASAP).

After all the candy is picked over and you’re down to Smarties and generic bulk candy, we begin to look ahead to the Holiday season. To get us in the spirit, the next Serve Sunday is November 12th with the Operation Christmas Child Packing/Wrapping party @ 3:00 p.m. here at LCC! We’ll finish off packing the 300 boxes we set out to fill back during VBS. The youth group will also celebrate fall birthdays that evening as well. After Thanksgiving, we’ll have our Annual YG Post Thanksgiving Leftover Feast at the Inn on Nov. 26th. If you’ve got leftovers to share, bring them to the Inn before 5:30 p.m. and add to the spread! Everything is welcome: turkey, stuffing, pie…but if you bring potatoes, please, for the love of Pilgrims, bring GRAVY! LCC teens thank you in advance.

After a good Ministry Fair last weekend, hopefully some pumps were primed for getting in-to the action. As for our youth ministries, we’re always looking for good people. Each age and phase is crucial in the discipleship process and having more mentors and people to connect with along the way is a must. If you think you could have a conversation with a kid or teenager about what they are learning and about how the story of the Bible connects with life, then WE need to have a conversation. Please contact me on my cell or in the office.

One final note, a reminder, we will not meet for J.A.M. on Wednesday, November 22nd, right before Thanksgiving. Travel safe and eat responsibly!

Blessings, Joe Willis - Associate/Youth Minister - [email protected]
