Pastika says he is ready tospend the rest of his life, ifnecessary, in a legal processseeking justice in his caseagainst The Bali Post.
Quoted in Nusa Bali,Pastika made this affirmation aftermeeting with Rofiki Hasan,Chairman of the Denpasar chapterof the Alliance of IndependentJournalists (AJI), and, BagusNgurah Rai, Chairman of Balichap te r o f the Indones ianJournalists Organization (PWI), athis office.
Accompanied by the chiefof Public Relations and Protocol forthe province, Ketut Teneng, Pastikasaid he is following the rules setforth in the national press law.Mediation is underway, but Pastikasaid the Press Council is not beingtransparent in publicizing the resultsof the mediation process. Thegovernor is displeased with the factthat in the original findings the PressCouncil declared the reporting in thecase by The Bali Post as unverifiedand inaccurate. However, the PressCouncil omitted to state this factagain in the written report on the
mediation process.Pastika is also unhappy
with the daily barrage oftendentious front-page editorialpublished by The Bali Post and, asa result, he has confirmed hisintent to the PWI and AJI tocontinue the legal case seekingmillion of dollars in damages from
the newspaper.Pastika labelled thecontinuing coverage in the case toforce his hand as immoral, provocative, tendentious andattempting to incite the public.Rejecting the view that he is not afriend of the press, Pastikacountered: It is as if I am trying torein in the press and amthreatening press freedom. Whywould I create a press room?(Why) do I visit the press whenthey are tying their stories in thepressroom? (Why) do I providethem with news? When I was inJakarta, I became a source for
news for Pos Kota. Almost everyday, at that time, I was the sourceof the news.
Governor Pastika alsoobjects to efforts to try to link hiscase against The Bali Post withthe murder of a reporter in 2009from Radar Bali, Anak AgungPrabangsa, supposedly inconnection with his coverage ofcorruption in Bangli. Said Pastika:If there are reporters who arebeing threatened, let me know.Don't let an incident like that ofPrabangsa be connected. Don't

let there be a set up. Later,if something happens to a reporter,I might be accused.
When quizzed on theresults of his meeting with the PWIand AJI, Pastika said: I haveasked for the lies in the news tostop; stop insinuating. Up until thispoint, the news has been like that.
G o v e r n o r P a s t i k aexplained that the law provides himfour legal avenues. These are: theright of response; the right to file acivil suit; the right to make criminalcharges and the rights undercommercial law. Dismissing theapplicability of commercial law,Pastika said he is left with civil orcriminal solutions.
The Governor complainedthat when he made a publicstatement clarifying the erroneousnews published by The Bali Postafter he testified before the BaliHouse of Representatives (DPRD-Bali), but the newspaper failed to
print that clarification.Bali's governor has calledon the factions making publiccomments portraying him as tryingto control the press to make aneffort to try to truly understand thefacts of the case. He said the presswas publishing lies and that TheBali Post has never admitted itsviolation of the principles of pressethics. Because of this, Pastika isusing his right to seek justicebefore the law.
Angered with the unfairtreatment he continues to receivefrom The Bali Post, Pastika said: Ifthis is the situation, I'm ready to
continue this case for the next fiveyears, If the courts say I have noright to file this suit, I will appeal. Iam ready to go (all the way) to theSupreme Court. I am prepared tolitigate for ten years into the future. It doesn't matter. (I'll do it) for therest of my life.

'day again folks and welcome to the Christmas 2011 edition ofthe Kuta Weekly. It's a great time of year to be on the islandGenjoying the spoils of a good years work and relaxing as most
tourists do while here kicking back. I did notice that the traffic justbefore the rush of people hitting the island had eased to a bearablelevel and in the last few days had quickly increased to an almost standstill as usual.
I see the Balinese have out done themselves again this yearand helped make Bali look a lot like every other western city in so far as
Christmas decorations go. Just about the entire place is covered with decorations and trees and baublesmaking most places look like home. I see a heap more places are catering for the big Christmas lunch as I'msure the most of us have been getting emails offering deals and seeing advertising almost everywhere. Mytips for the best places to go for the Big Day and enjoy a few coldys with friends and company are:
KUTA TOWNHOUSES, My personal favourite choice for the real traditional sit down Christmasluncheon. The Boss has the western Chef, aka Pete working his magic on a set menu which is sure to satisfythe most eager critic and sort out that Christmas trifle craving once again for the year. I watched as the Chefmade the 2011 trifle and didn't realize that much Port goes into one big trifle. It was literally running outthanks to a decent traveller that had some extra room in their luggage and pledged a full cask of the oldTawny Port for the job. So bring your bathers and the family and a healthy appetite, but, be sure to get on thephone and call derrick to secure a booking straight away as seats are limited as it's a first in best fed typething again this year. They are having two sittings so enjoy enjoy enjoy!
Y-BAR SPORTS BAR, Again the powers that be are putting on a good show for Christmas with theChristmas Eve celebration probably being bigger than the big day itself. The Steve's and Mr Rudi's areputting on a free BBQ for everyone from 7pm Christmas Eve and giving away a free beer or slushy toeveryone as a welcome drink, they have a lucky door prize hamper happening worth 5 million Rupiah, and
are only asking 50k per ticket for entry on the night, so good odds if you ask me. Should be a great night withKaraoke cranking along so a perfect time to sit back and enjoy. On Christmas day the boys are starting theBBQ from 3pm with a free salad bar, so heaps of time to sleep in and get yourself ready for the night. Theyalways throw a few rounds of beer to the bar so should be a great night in excellent company for the day.Rock on Y-Bar!
Ok punters there you have the two favoured tips from us for the Big Day and I wish you all a very verymerry Christmas, and only wish I could get around and enjoy everything Bali has to offer for the day. I hopethat the most of you stay happy, very safe, healthy and try to remember, He who has no Christmas in hisheart will never find Christmas under a tree.
Enjoy your week and Merry Christmas to you all.ALIASJ

knife-edge games at theOld Trafford stadium.
The condition, known asan Addisonian crisis, comesabout when the adrenal glandsdo not produce enough of thes t ress - reduc ing hormonecortisol, a lack of which can leadto low blood pressure and even a

patient was having difficultymounting an appropriate ced

Doctors suspectedthe condition when thewoman started getting boutsof anxiety, palpitations, panic, light headedness, anda sense of impending doomtowards the end of matches.
The symptoms wereless serious when the homeside was playing a lower-rated team.
An Addisonian crisis, which is a manifestation ofAddison's disease, is difficultto diagnose because the
main symptoms includefatigue, lethargy and lowmood -- often experienced byotherwise healthy peopleand frequently reported inm a n y o t h e r c h r o n i cconditions.
"Luckily, the patientwas on holiday for United's 6-1 defeat by local rivalsManchester City in October,
"But, by this time, doctors had fine-tuned hertherapy and she hasremained symptom-free
during recent tense contestsagainst Sunderland and FCBasel,"
Treatment coincidedwith the start of the 2011/12football season and thepatient has managed toattend all games at OldTrafford without any adverseeffects.

If your preschoolers turnup their noses at carrots orcelery, a small reward l ike asticker for taking even ataste may help get them toeat previously shunnedfoods, a UK study said.
Though it might seem
obvious that a reward couldtempt young children to eat theirvegetables, the idea is actuallycontroversial, researchers wrotein the American Journal ofClinical Nutrition.
That's because somestudies have shown that rewardscan backfire and cause childrento lose interest in foods theyalready liked, said Jane Wardle,a researcher at UniversityCollege London who worked onthe study.
Verbal praise, such as"Br i l l iant ! You' re a greatvegetable taster," did not work aswell.
"We would recommendthat parents consider using smallnon-food rewards, given daily for
tasting tiny pieces of thefood -- smaller than half a littlefinger nail," Wardle said in anemail.
The study found thatwhen parents gave their three-and four-year-olds a stickereach time they took a "tiny taste"of a disliked vegetable, it
gradually changed the children'sattitudes.
Over a couple of weeks, children rewarded this way weregiv ing h igher rat ings tovegetables, with the foodsmoving up the scale frombetween 1 and 2 - somewherebetween "yucky" and "just okay"- to between 2 and 3, or "justokay" and "yummy".
The children were alsowilling to eat more of thevegetables - either carrots, celery, cucumber, red pepper, cabbage or sugar snap peas - inlaboratory taste tests, the studysaid.
Researchers randomlyassigned 173 families to one ofthree groups. In one, parents
Kids won't eat veggies? Try rewardschild each time they took

A second group ofparents used verbal praise. Thethird group, where parents usedno special veggie-promotingtactics, served as a "control".
Parents in the reward
groups offered their child a tasteof the "target" vegetable everyday for 12 days.
Soon after, children in thesticker group were giving higherratings to the vegetables - andwere willing to eat more in theresearch lab, going from anaverage of 5 grams at the start toabout 10 grams after the 12-dayexperience.
The turnaround alsoseemed to last, with preschoolersin the sticker group still willing toeat more of the once-shunnedveggie three months later.
Why didn't the verbalpraise work? Wardle said theparents' words may have seemed"insincere" to their children.

"Whatever" deemed mostannoying word
Do you want to kill a conversation?Try saying " whatever."
Words like "you know" and "like" mightbe irritating to hear, but for the third year in arow, it's "whatever" that holds the most power
to annoy, according to an annual survey by theMarist College Institute for Public Opinion.
Nearly four in ten adults named"whatever" as the most annoying verbal filler incasual conversation, while one in five adultshad similar disdain for "like" and 'you know."
"Just sayin'" and "seriously" were moreforgiving to the ears, though still quite irritating,Marist found.
The telephone survey of 1,026 adultsnationally had a margin of error of threepercentage points.

Fuel Cost to Go Up for Most in April 2012News Corner
Indonesian Governmentto End Fuel Subsidies forPrivate Vehicles EffectiveApri l 1, 2012.
Effect iveApril 1, 2012, thegovernment willoutlaw the use of
premium gasolinef o r p r i v a t ev e h i c l e s ,according to astatement issuedb y t h e V i c e -M i n i s t e r f o rE n e r g y a n dN a t u r a lR e s o u r c e s ,W i d j a j o n oPartowidagdo, asr e p o r t e d b yKompas.com.
The move is intended toreduce the large subsidies paid by
the government for public fuelconsumption. Widjiaono said thenew policy would be introduced instages; first in Jakarta and then tobe followed by Jabodetabek, Javaand Bali.
At the present time nodecision has been made onvehicles powered by diesel fuel
with the governmentpromising to announce its intentionin that area shortly.
The main point is that
beginning April 1st private cars canno longer use premium gas and ifyou want to use a private vehiclethen you're fuel is Pertamax, proclaimed Widjajono.
S u b s id i ze d p r e m iu mcurrent costs Rp. 4,500 (US$0.50)per litre in Bali while Pertamax non-subsidized fuel costs Rp. 8,900(US$0.98) per litre. This willtranslate into a 98% increase in fuelcosts for private vehicle operators
who normally fill up at thepremium pump.
Partowidagdo told thepress that now was the right time

It is not clear exactly atthis point what constitutes aprivate vehicle under the new
directive and whether thesubstantial jump in cost frompremium fuel to Pertamax will bedone all at once or in phasesover an extended period of t ime.

Aries Mar 20 - Apr 19Don't let the lac of success in your recent efforts to achievean accord in one particularly crucial issue discourage you. You've been blaming the stubborn attitude of others.Ironically, that's exactly how they've felt about you.Discussing this frankly will begin the conversation thatwill, ultimately, lead to a resolution.
22 Dec - 28 Dec 2011 (264)
TaurusApr 20 - May 20Your forthright suggestions to those you live or work withabout the best way to handle tricky matters weren't exactlywelcomed with open arms. In fact, they rejected them. However, that isn't stopping you. Nor should it. This time, however, you won't make the same mistake. You intend tobe far less forthright.
Gemini May 21 - Jun 20While your sense of humour is a very real gift, you'llsometimes laugh off problems that actually requireimmediate attention. You'll find this is the case in severalsituations this week. Although no single issue will be thatsignificant, once you've delved into each, you'll realisewhy it needs to be dealt with.
Cancer Jun 21 - Jul 22Allowing others to be themselves, even when they'rebeing impossible, isn't easy. But you're not justunderstanding during times such as these, you don'tmake them feel guilty for misbehaving. The individual maynot appear thankful at the moment, but they are. Andthey'll show their gratitude in wonderful ways.
Leo Jul 23 - Aug 22Being both concerned that those to whom you're closelylinked make the right decision and that they know you
care, it's natural that you'd offer advice. However, theymay regard what you suggest as interfering. If so, saywhat you have to say, as briefly as possible, then back off.
Virgo Aug 23 - Sep 22Contending with unsettling situations is bad enough. Butdealing with the amazingly bad-tempered attitude ofcertain individuals is making you question whether it'sworth making an effort. Actually, you're right to ask this, atleast now. In several situations it might be better to put offtaking action until the general mood improves.
Libra Sep 23 - Oct 22After a period that's been largely devoted to dealing withthe needs of others, you're longing for a break. Now thatyour ruler Venus has moved into the portion of your chartthat accents exactly such matters, you get it. While others'demands won't vanish immediately, they'll devour far lessof your time.
ScorpioOct 23 - Nov 21From time to time you forget that not everybody has yourinstinctive sense of discretion. What this means is thatcertain individuals will merrily reveal facts aboutthemselves or, unless you stop them, you that you regard
as strictly private. But they don't, so must be informed nowand probably reminded frequently.
Sagittarius Nov 22 - Dec 21There are some plans you can carry out on your own. However, exciting ideas or ventures require theparticipation of others. And in certain cases, theindividuals whose support you need are beingfrustratingly uncooperative. Tedious as going over plansin detail may be, try it. That will undoubtedly do the trick.
Capricorn Dec 22 - Jan 19Having gone over arrangements again and again, you'restill not convinced that certain intriguing ideas or excitingoffers are as good as they seem to be. Do nothing. ThisSaturday's Capricorn New Moon not only will give you afresh perspective on these and other matters, suddeninsights could answer all those questions.
AquariusJan 20 - Feb 18You're by no means a control freak. Yet when those withwhom you're involved in frustrating situations suggest
solutions, you won't even discuss them because youinsist they're impractical. The irony is that once you'reactually talking them over, your perspective will change.Enough that suddenly, those reservations will vanish.
Pisces Feb 19 - Mar 19Although it's been nearly a week since Mercury'sretrograde cycle ended, you're still dealing with the falloutin the form of mistakes and badly organised plans.Annoying as this is, don't allow anybody to shift theresponsibility for these problems in your direction. This isone time when absolutely nobody is to blame.

Take care selling the family silver, hard up GreeksGreece published guid elines this week to protectits austerity-hit citizens from being ripped off bypawn shops buying their family gold and silver.
The consumer protection agency issued the unusualnotice as new pawn shops spring up across Athens to meetdemand for instant cash in Greece's contracting economy. Butcrisis-hit families may be getting a poor deal from unscrupuloustraders.
"We urge consumers to weigh their objects at home," astatement from the agency said. "Fliers and advertising materialpromising particularly high prices should be treated with caution."
Fliers for pawn shops are stuck on car windscreens and intelephone booths across the capital. One poster at a bus standreads: "In Gold We Trust."
Greeks, particularly civil servants, have seen theirincomes drop by as much as third as a result of EU/IMF-imposedausterity policies to save the debt-laden country from default.
Consumers should seek independent valuations of their
family silver, check gold prices andcompare pawn shop offers for jewellery beforedeciding to sell, the agency warned.

introductory dives, night dives and longphoto excursions. Staghorn coral patchreefs start in only 3m of water. The reefthen opens out onto an area with hugecoral bommies, soft leather corals andflowing anemones. The area here can begood for macro buffs; there are rumoursof a lacey scorpionfish being seen hereas well.7. Napoleon Reef
Named for a large Napoleonwrasse seen here, Napoleon Reef is inthe north near Pemuteran. It can bedived deep or shallow, day or night. Onthe northeast end is the Ikan Warung fishhouse, bustling with various schools.Golden sea fans and large clumps ofcotton-candy coral grow beside othergorgonians along the slope.8. Menjangen Island
The drop-offs at MenjanganIsland can be a real treat. This is thesite of a now abandoned guard postthat has a broad channel leading tothe beach. Expect to be greeted bybatfish. The dive offers spectacular
corals and many deep crevices andfissures, as well as small caves.Sleeping groupers and wary big-eyed jacks are found in the darkrecesses.9. Crystal Bay
Crystal Bay, on Nusa Penida, isprotected and relatively shallow, offering enjoyable conditions fordivers of all levels. The bay has twoentrances and a large rock sits in thecentre. Be careful when diving thiscentral rock, or along the outsideedge of the bay, as the current canbe strong, sweeping divers out alongthe outside wall into very tricky diving
conditions. When near the drop-off, lookfor larger creatures, such as molas, eagle rays, dogtooth tuna, sharks and anoccas iona l bumphead wrasse .
Schooling surgeonfish are abundant insome spots.10. Manta Point
Lucky divers may have a closeencounter with the manta rays that areknown to traverse this dive site. One ofthe mantas is pure white, a trulyunearthly creature. Manta Point islocated along the high and rugged cliffsof Nusa Penida, so it's not always easy toget there due to the big swells thatsometimes hit, but it's worth it toexperience these gentle, gracefulcreatures.

Bali's 10 best dive sitesWant to plunge into the deep blueand get your mind blown by Bali'sunderwater wildlife? Head rightthis way.
Bali's dive sites offer greatdiversity: vertical walls and sand slopes,
shipwrecks, limestone shorelines andblack, volcanic outcrops, peaceful bays andripping currents, coral-covered ridges, withboth shore- and boat-diving. Expect to seemantas, whale sharks and, from Julythrough October, oceanic sunfish.
Diving safaris are becoming thepackage of choice for those who want to seemore of underwater Bali. These arebasically hotel/diving and transportpackages. Because you're staying near thedive sites, you can do earlier and later divesand avoid the day-tripping crowds from thetourist areas that pack out popularsites. It also allows you to do moredives each day. Snorkelling isavailable at Tulamben, Amed,P a d a n g B a i a n dPemuteran/Menjangan, so non-diving partners and children can often join day trips and safaris. Here areBali's 10 best:1. USAT Liberty
The Liberty shipwreck isconsidered Bali's most popular divesite. The American ship USAT Libertywas an armed cargo steamship thatwas torpedoed by the Japanese in1942. The years under the sea havetransformed it to one of Indonesia'smost beautiful artif icial reefs.Stunning gorgonian sea fans, hugesoft coral trees and big-barrelsponges all flourish here. A residentschool of big-eyed jacks live on andaround the ship and are unafraid ofdivers, so it's safe to enter the school andhave them whirl around you. The ship is alsoa haven for emperors, batfish, sweetlipsand parrotfish.2. Tulamben drop-of f
On the northeast coast, TulambenBay receives very plankton-rich waters and, coupled with the fact that the three maindive sites provide totally different physicalenvironments, the bay is a stunning anddiverse underwater ecosystem. The blacksand in the area brings out the colours of thecorals, gorgonians, fish and other marinelife. At the south end of the bay, a rocky pointfalls off sharply underwater to create a deepdrop-off where sharks, whale sharks andsunfish have been found.3. Amed
Amed lies to the south, alongthe eastern coastline. It was traditionallydependent on salt-panning and fishing, and despite the arrival of tourists it'sretained that feeling. There are threemain dive sites here; head south to theshipwreck at Lipah fishing village, or a bitfurther south to the drift dive at GiliSelang, Bali's easternmost point.4. Lipah shipwr eck
This village is tiny and so is thewreck, which can be found at the innerbay drop-off at the north end of LipahBay. Divers can take a boat down thecoast, or just drive along the windingcoast and walk in. It's full of coppersweepers, a batfish school, hard coralgrowth and waving sea fans, and can beboth dived or snorkelled. Go with a goodguide, as the currents can come up fast
and strong.5. Gili Tepekong
This big volcanic hump risesout of the water not far from the Candi
Dasa shore on the south-east coast.Underwater, the area is covered withMedusa-like heads that vary in size fromhuge boulders to small sea gardens. They are adorned with blood-red seafans, tunicates and sponges. In somespots, the competition for space amid thecorals is incredible. Other sites includeGili Mimpang and Gili Biaha. Currentsare common in this area, but that meanspelagic life like big tuna, jacks, sharksand even mola mola come in here.6. Blue Lagoon

kangaroos flew,
With the Ute full of toys, and Santa Claus too.
He slid down the gum tree and jumped to the
ground, Then in through the window he sprang with
a bound.
He had bright sunburned cheeks and a milky white
beard.
A jolly old joker was how he appeared.
He wore red stubby shorts and old thongs on his
feet,And a hat of deep crimson as shade from the
heat.
His eyes - bright as opals - Oh! How they twinkled!
And, like a goanna, his skin was quite wrinkled! His
shirt was stretched over a round bulging belly
Which shook when he moved, like a plate full of
jelly. A fat stack of prezzies he flung from his
back,And he looked like a swaggie unfastening his
pack.
He spoke not a word, but bent down on one knee,
To position our goodies beneath the yule tree.
Surfboard and footy-ball shapes for us two.
And for Dad, tongs to use on the new barbeque.
A mysterious package he left for our Mum,
Then he turned and he winked and he held up his
thumb; He strolled out on deck and his 'roos came
on cue;Flung his sack in the back and preparedto
shoot through. He bellowed out loud as they swooped past the
gates-
MERRY CHRISTMAS to all, and goodonya,
MATES!'
Night Before Christmas in Aussie
land'Twas the night before Christmas; there wasn't a
sound.
Not a possum was stirring; no-one was around.
We'd left on the table some tucker and
beer,Hoping that Santa Claus soon would be here;
We children were snuggled up safe in ourbeds,While dreams of pavlova danced 'round in our
heads; And Mum in her nightie, and Dad in his
shorts, Had just settled down to watch TV sports.
When outside the house a mad ruckus arose;Loud
squeaking and banging woke us from our doze.
We ran to the screen door, peeked cautiously
out,Snuck onto the deck, then let out a shout.
Guess what had woken us up from our snooze,But a
rusty old Ute pulled by eight mighty kangaroos.
The cheerful man driving was giggling with glee,And
we both knew at once who this plump bloke must
be. Now, I'm telling the truth it's all dinki-di,
Those eight kangaroos fairly soared through the
sky. Santa leaned out the window to pull at thereins,And encouraged the 'roos, by calling their
names.
'Now, Kylie! Now, Kirsty! Now, Shazza and Shane!
On Kipper! On, Skipper! On, Bazza and Wayne! Park
up on that water tank.
Grab a quick drink, I'll
scoot down the gum
tree. Be back in a
wink!' So up to the

Watters wants high-scor ing SaintsNew St Kilda coach ScottWatters wants a greateremphasis on attack as hebrings elements of theCo l l i ngwood fo rwardpress to the AFL club.
Watters wants theSaints to be better attrapping the ball in their ownattack, saying they weredefending too deep.
Under former coachRoss Lyon, the Saintsboasted the league's bestdefence as they made the2009-10 grand finals.
But 11 teams scoredmore heavily than the Saints thisyear as they dropped toseventh.
Watters was an assistantcoach at Collingwood before
joining St Kilda.
A s k e d a b o u t t h eMagpies' famed forward-linepress, Watters said: "Obviously,it was a club that stronglyfocussed on that, but it's prettymuch entrenched with my ownphilosophies on the way thegame needs to be played.
"There will be a reallystrong defensive element to theway we play.
"We'd like to defend
more in the front half ofthe ground - we probablydefended a little bit too deep
over the last year or two."If we get the balance of
that right and the way wedefend, we'll get better offensiveinput as well."
Zac Dawson's departureto Fremantle and James Gwilt'sabsence until the middle of nextseason fol lowing a kneereconstruction means theSaints will have a new-lookbackline.
Youngster Tom Simpkinand former West Coast utilityBeau Wilkes are players whocould have key defensive roles.
Jason Blake, whose firstsenior game next year will bringhim to 200, will again be part oftheir defence.
The Saints de-listedBlake and then put him backon their list through the pre-
season draft to relievepressure on their playerpayments.
"It was just one ofthose things that has to bedone, to help the club out,"Blake said.
Watters said theSaints felt that there wasminimal risk in puttingBlake back into the draft, because he was clearly
not going to leave them."There's always a risk,
but to pick up a player who'son 199 games with nointention of playing anywhereelse would have also been arisk for those who perhapshad taken him," Watters
noted."From our perspective, weknew he was going to be here.If you had more Jason Blakeson your list, you'd be astronger club.
"He always thinks ofothers before himself, sets areally high standard with theway he prepares.

If he fails to break hisdecade-long drought on thepremier US Tour, the 38-year-oldWest Australian left-hander must

Fellow Australian RobertAllenby is also in doubt for theMasters after falling to a year-endranking of 59th.
Allenby, 40, has contestedthe past 11 Masters events, for fourmissed cuts and a best placing oftied 29th in 2002, but his streakmay be coming to an end.

Tomic aims high for 2012Breaking into theworld's top 10 by theage of 20 may soundambitious, but tennisp r o d i g y B e r n a r dTomic reckons thatmay be the least of hisachievements nextyear after surprisinghimself with his 2011success.
Spurred on by fellow Gold Coast productSam Stosur's US Open success, world number42 Tomic hoped he would be celebrating morethan just his 20th birthday on October 21.
"I would love to be in the top 10 by my nextbirthday," he said on Tuesday as he prepared forthe Brisbane International from January 1.
"If not, I am looking to be in the top 20. Itwill be a hard task but I have done well this year.
"I did not think I would be where I am -anything is possible.
"I have a lot of tournaments where I canget points in the next six months."Tomic is thinking big after this year
becoming the youngest man to reach theWimbledon quarter-finals since Boris Becker in1986.
The teenager qualified for Wimbledon asthe world number 158 but had rocketed into thetop 50 for the first time by the end of the year.
Tomic admitted he would be under morepressure to perform from an Australian sportingpublic starved for tennis success since LleytonHewitt's decline.
But Tomic did notmind adding to that pressurehimself with grand slamsuccess and Olympic medalsnow in his sights followingStosur's US Open triumph.
"It (Stosur) motivatesus a lot. I look at it and say I
want to win a grand slam likeher," he said."That will always be
with her that title, and maybe in the future I canwin tournaments like that.
"The Olympics will be my focus as wellnext year.
"It is a true event, one that I want to wina medal at.
"There is a little bit more pressure onme, but I have always had pressure from ayoung age - I know how to handle it."
Tomic will hope to launch his bold 2012plan at the Brisbane International, which willalso feature Andy Murray.
Success has helped Tomic win overthe sporting public but he still believes he hasbeen "misunderstood".
Tomic recently made headlines afterbeing investigated by Gold Coast police forcomplaints of hooning in his sports car.
"I don't worry about that stuff. It is in thepast," he said.
"You are going to get good press andbad press ... but I am doing my job playingtennis.

Ryan calls for Haslerbacking at Bulldogs
The former Bulldogs skipper, whohung up his boots at the end of lastseason, bringing down the curtain on astellar 11-year-career, is confidentHasler can bring the good times backto Belmore.
However, he acknowledged the
two-time premiership winning coach, wholeft Manly following a bitter fall-out with theboard, will want to change the culture atthe club and should be allowed to do so."These are exciting times for the Bulldogsand the boys I know are all pumped aboutworking with Des," Ryan said at the JackNewton Classic celebrity golf tournamentin the Hunter Valley.
"I never thought it would actually
happen. You associate him so much withManly, but he's a proven winner and he'llbring that winning mentality with him."Despite their success on the field, the SeaEagles off-field difficulties somewhatsullied Hasler's team's achievements.
Continued boardroom power struggles, a PRdepartment that struggled to cope with the modern-daydemands of the media and the inability to receive governmentbacking to upgrade Brookvale are not problems Hasler willface at Canterbury.
However, there have been murmurs from someBulldogs supporters that Hasler, a self-confessed controlfreak, will want to change the club dramatically.
Ryan does not believe that will happen, but wants the
50-year-old to be given whatever he needs to bring theBulldogs their first premiership since 2004."There will obviously be some changes around and he hasbrought a lot of staff with him," he said."But Des is the head coach and if they want results then theyhave to let him make some big calls and run the show."The expectation from fans, supporters and sponsors is to bein the top four and winning premierships."I can't see the Bulldogs not being in the upper echelons nextyear."
