• PRAYER

REVIEW:

• Last week we discovered that we can choose life or death—eternal life or eternal destruction.

INTRODUCTION:

• This week we shall see the steps necessary for conversion or being born again. Our first text is Matthew 19:16.• POINT TO EMPHASIZE:• The supreme question, one that everyone at sometime in his life will ask is, “What must I do to have eternal life?”

Let’s discover several steps God says are necessary. The first one is found in John 3:3.

• POINT TO EMPHASIZE:–We must be born again. What does this mean? Being born again is the changing process from sin to salvation.

What must we do before God can cleanse us from sin? Let us look at Acts 3:19.

• POINT TO EMPHASIZE:–We must repent and be converted. Psalm 32:5 says we must “acknowledge our sins”—have a sorrow for our sins.

What two things will repentance lead us to do? Notice what Proverbs 28:13 says.

• POINT TO EMPHASIZE:–We must confess our sins, then forsake them to obtain mercy.

Suppose we do confess our sins. do we have the assurance that they will be forgiven? Let us turn to 1 John 1:19.

• POINTS TO EMPHASIZE:–If we confess our sins, Christ is faithful and just to forgive them. –He will cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

But how can we tell if we have been born again? 2 Corinthians 5:17 tells us.

• POINTS TO EMPHASIZE:–We are new creatures—our lifestyle must be changed.–Old things are put away. We no longer do the things God forbids.–All things become new.

What is another way we can tell we are truly living the Christian life? 1 John 3:24

• POINTS TO EMPHASIZE:–We can know Christ abides in us if we keep His commands.–The Book of Hebrews (5:9) inseparably link obedience with salvation.

How can we get the power, courage, and strength to live a good Christian life? Our last text is Galatians 2:20.

• POINT TO EMPHASIZE:–By letting Christ live in us, we can live for Him and do what He wants us to do.

APPEAL:

• The question is: “Shouldn’t we turn from our sinful ways by repenting and confessing so that God can cleanse us from all unrighteousness, and Christ can live His life through us and grant us eternal salvation.

PRAYER:

• Thank God for His wonderful love in saving us.• Pray that we may accept His

wonderful offer of salvation.• Remember the family’s needs.

PROJECTION:

• Next week we shall talk about a subject that we often hear preached and discussed: “Law and/or Grace.”
