JAMMU, Feb 14: JammuJustice Secular Forum (JJSF)held protest demonstrationagainst the alleged discrimina-tion in selection process ofJammu and Kashmir CricketAssociation (JKCA) at GGMScience College hostel ground,here today.

The protest was led byVikram Singh Chib, ProvincialPresident JJSF under thesupervision of AdvocatePushvinder Singh Manhas,State President JJSF.

Addressing the media per-sons, Vikram Singh said thatdiscrimination is beingobserved in selection process,adding that the Association ishiring players from outside theState, leaving the local crick-eters in the lurch.

Clinton, Vice PresidentJJSF, Jammu Province saidthat the players from outsidethe State should be removedfrom the team.

The protest among otherswas attended by Clinton, Sr.Vice President JJSF JammuProvince, Sagar, Shubam,

The soccer tournament forJammu School students in which10 schools namely APSAkhnoor, Jodhamal PublicSchool, Little Flower School,Living Bethel School, BSFSchool Paloura, Heritage, JPWorld, KV Bantalab, KV-2Jammu Cantt and KC PublicSchool are participating, isbeing organized by the DistrictPolice Jammu under the CivicAction Programme (CAP) ofJ&K Police.

The objective of the tourna-ment is to involve young chil-dren in sports activities and toprovide them platform to show-case skill and talent.

SAMBA, Feb 14: The State'slargest sports carnival underKhelo India scheme for under-17 boys began at block levelunder Rural Sports Competitionin nine blocks of district Sambatoday.

Secretary Sports CouncilWaheed-ur-Rehman Parra saidaim of the competition is toimprove the pool of sportsper-sons at the grassroots level. Asmany as 2800 players from nineblocks of Samba district are par-ticipating in the competition.

He said the block level com-petitions would be held in fivesports disciplines includingKabbadi, Volleyball, Wrestling,boxing and Athletics.

Officials informed that morethan 350 players are participat-ing in the competition at M VInternational School, from dif-ferent villages of Block Vijaypurincluding 11 teams of

Volleyball, 10 teams of Kabbadi,43 players in Wrestling, 60Players in Athletics and 35Players in Boxing.

"To identify and hone talentin rural Jammu and Kashmir,various competitions are sched-uled to be held at Block, Districtand State level in the comingmonths and the selected teamswill later participate in theNational Level SportsCompetition Games," Parrainformed, adding thatGovernment is committed topromote sports activities anddevelop sports infrastructure inevery nook and corner of theState. Leg-spinner Amit Mishra'sinjury-forced omission was thelone change as the nationalselectors today retained theformidable Indian squad,which hammered Bangladesh,for the first two Tests againstAustralia starting February 23.

Mishra had to sit out of theBangladesh Test owing to aknee injury, which had prompt-ed selectors to bring inKuldeep Yadav as cover.

With Mishra still not fit, theselection committee, headedby MSK Parasad, retainedYadav in the 16-member squadfor the first two games againstAustralia.

The matches are to beplayed in Pune (February 23-27) and Bangalore (March 4-8)respectively.
