Richard Collin has, once again, updated his eyelid surgerybook. This third edition is indeed a manual. It is precise andto the point. There are no references because there is noneed to delve any further into the literature. It is all here—the anatomy, the problems, and the various methodsavailable to solve the problems!

The chapter style is refreshing. The problem is pre-sented, analyzed, and the accepted methods to deal with theproblem are discussed and illustrated by line drawings. There are no photographs and as mentioned above noreferences. Complications are comprehensively discussed. The line drawings are simple, accurate, and effective. Theywill be invaluable to the novice and helpful even to theexperienced.

Flow charts are provided which lead to various solu-tions, depending on physical findings. Each technique isdiscussed under principle, indications, method, and com-

plications. This makes for ease of reading and, in addition,is helpful in comparing techniques. This style makes forrapid assessment of the available techniques and helps todetermine which is most suitable.

This relatively small paperback textbook of 264 pages isfilled with useful information. It could be carried into theoperating room where the excellent diagrams could beperused as necessary.

It is very refreshing to have a reasonably pricedtextbook of moderate size containing all you need toknow about this subject presented clearly and succinctlyby an international authority. I, fortunately, am able tokeep this volume; otherwise, I would want to acquirethis book in spite of having been working in this areafor the past 50+ years.
