JOURNEYSOUTPROJECT

PEERMENTORSTheJourneysOutProjectisa2.5yearprojectaimedatbuildingthecapacityofemergingandestablishedcommunityleaderstoengageinthedebateaboutdealingwiththepastonaninter‐communitybasisandtoengagetheirlocalcommunitiesindiscussionsondealingwiththepastintheirlocalareas.ThisprojectisdeliveredbyINCORE(InternationalConflictResearchInstitute),basedattheUniversityofUlster,inpartnershipwiththePeaceandReconciliationGroup,Derry/Londonderry,IntercommIreland,basedinBelfast,andtheGlencreeCentreforPeaceandReconciliation,Co.Wicklow.TheJourneysOutProjectnowinitssecondyear,invitessuitablyqualifiedapplicantstomentorstheyeartwoemergingleadersoftheproject.Peermentorsplayanintegralroleintheprojectastheywillassistemergingcommunityleadersindesigninganddeliveringworkshopsaimedatengaginglocalcommunitiesindiscussionsaboutdealingwiththepastintheirlocalareas.Criteria:

• Individualswhohaveexperienceofcommunityleadershipwithatleast12yrsexperienceofcommunitybasedengagement(i.etheywereactivewithinacommunitysettingpriortotheAgreementof1998)

• Individualswholiveorworkinthefollowingareastargetedbytheprojecto EastBelfasto WestBelfasto Strabaneo Ballymenao SouthArmagh/NorthCountyMonaghano Fermanagh/Cavanborder

• Bewillingtoundertakepeermentoringof1‐3emergingleaders.• Beabletocommit4daysoftheirtimebetweenJanuary2011andJune2011onprojectrelated

activities.• Beabletoattendatleast2peermentormeetingswiththeJourneysOutprojectexecutivebetween

January2011andJune2011.• Beabletocommit9hrsoveraminimumof3sessionstoeachemergingleaderbetweenFebruary

2011andApril2011onthedesignanddeliveryofcommunityworkshops
