A Project Supported by the PEACE III Programme managed for the Special EU Programmes Body by the Community Relations Council/Pobal consortium JOURNEYS OUT PROJECT PEER MENTORS The Journeys Out Project is a 2.5 year project aimed at building the capacity of emerging and established community leaders to engage in the debate about dealing with the past on an inter‐community basis and to engage their local communities in discussions on dealing with the past in their local areas. This project is delivered by INCORE (International Conflict Research Institute), based at the University of Ulster, in partnership with the Peace and Reconciliation Group, Derry/Londonderry, Intercomm Ireland, based in Belfast, and the Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation, Co. Wicklow. The Journeys Out Project now in its second year, invites suitably qualified applicants to mentors the year two emerging leaders of the project. Peer mentors play an integral role in the project as they will assist emerging community leaders in designing and delivering workshops aimed at engaging local communities in discussions about dealing with the past in their local areas. Criteria: Individuals who have experience of community leadership with at least 12yrs experience of community based engagement (i.e they were active within a community setting prior to the Agreement of 1998) Individuals who live or work in the following areas targeted by the project o East Belfast o West Belfast o Strabane o Ballymena o South Armagh/ North County Monaghan o Fermanagh/Cavan border Be willing to undertake peer mentoring of 1‐3 emerging leaders. Be able to commit 4 days of their time between January 2011 and June 2011 on project related activities. Be able to attend at least 2 peer mentor meetings with the Journeys Out project executive between January 2011 and June 2011.
