Founded in 1987, Buzon Pedestal
International (B.P.I. s.a.) is the
first European manufacturer of the
“Buzon” (screw jack) Pedestal which is
adjustable millimetre by millimetre up
to 1030mm. Made from polypropylene
and able to bear loads of more than
1000 kg/pedestal for the support of
paving slabs and timber or timber
composite decking on roof terraces,
balconies, garden terraces and around
swimming pools. Also used for
temporary floors in trade shows, special
events and raised floors in many other
industrial applications.
The support head (1) is screwed directly into the base or the coupler.
Both the head and the coupler have a safety stop (2) located at the base of the threads that prevents over-extension.
On the support head there are, 16 holes (3) which allow you to attach the tabs in various combinations to accomodate a myriad of patterns. (see diagram right)
The coupler (4) is used when the height of the pedestal exceeds 200mm. Two stabilizing brackets (5) allow the pedestals to be tied to each other with wire, ensuring greater stability when the height exceeds 600mm.
The 4mm thick, 200mm diameter polypropylene base (6) can be placed or fixed on a solid substrate.
Holes (7) at the bottom of the base are incorporated into its design to allow drainage and prevent the collection of stagnant water.
A single BC-PH5 slope corrector (8) can compensate for a horizontal slope from 0 to 5%. This is placed under the base of the pedestal.

BC Batten Support PlateThe BC Batten Support Plate supports dimensional timber from 35 to 90mm (1-3/8’’ to 3-1/2’’). The adjustment guides allow for the positioning of the timber batten to be secured at different angles.

1) Head specifications:
Thickness = 5mm (.2 in) Diameter = 145mm (5.7 in) Surface Area = 165cm2 (25.6 in2)
a) Beneath the head are 14 reinforcement ribs for optimal load distribution.
b) At the base of the continuously threaded head is a “Safety Stop” to prevent total unscrewing, this ensures three safety threads are retained at all times to provide support.
c) The surface configuration of the head provides 16 circular holes for attaching the 2mm circular spacer tabs. This allows angles of 30°/45°/60°/90°/120°/ 135°/150° and 180° to be achieved to accommodate different paver shapes.
d) Located at the centre is a 14mm threaded hole for a fastener or attaching a batten support.
2) Base specifications:
Thickness = 4mm (.16 in) Diameter = 200mm (8 in) Supporting surface = 315cm2 (49 in2)
a) The rounded base provides stability and seats perfectly on PVC, EPDM or any other type of waterproofing membrane, preventing puncture from the support.
b) The base’s 4mm thick cylinder wall is reinforced with eight 3mm thick ribs, which provides excellent stability and load distribution.
c) The internal cylinder has a safety hole to prevent total unscrewing of the pedestal head.
d) Drainage holes and interconnected drainage channels located within the base prevents water collection, thereby preventing stagnation.
e) To allow the pedestal to be fixed to the substrate, eight holes of 4 and 8mm diameters with a 6mm neck are located adjacent to the reinforcement ribs.
f ) By inserting a nail into the small hole located near the top of the base you can unlock the safety stop allowing the head or coupler to be completely unscrewed.
g) Two slots titled “Unlocked/Lock” accommodates a locking key that provides a simple and reliable way of keeping the adjusted height secured in place. (Patented System)
Specifications for BlackJack Pedestals – BC-Series
The 3rd generation BC-Series screwjack pedestals are made from talc-filled polypropylene copolymer materials that are UV stable, weather and chemical resistant, temperature resistant from –50° up to +120° C, and can support loads of more than 1000kg/pedestal. (Certified compression test results are available on request.) All the pedestals and accessories are rot-proof and recyclable.
The BC-Series consisting of BC-2, BC-3, BC-4, and BC-5 are infinitely adjustable from 41 to 200mm (1.6 in to 7.9 in), and with the addition of C-3 Couplers to the BC-4 or BC-5, heights up to 1030mm (41.6 in) can be achieved.
Other components included with the system are the BC-PH5 slope corrector (0 - 5%) which attaches to the base, BC Batten Support Plate, various fasteners, and 2mm Circular Spacer Tabs which attach to the head of the pedestal. These unique Circular Spacer Tabs in concert with the head, now allows other shapes such as triangles, pentagonal, hexagonal, and circular units to be installed in addition to the traditional square and rectangular units. This gives designers more flexibility to create a one of a kind landscape. Another new feature included with the BC-4 and BC-5 are two locking keys located in the base. These provide a simple and reliable way to lock the head and C-3 Coupler(s) at the adjusted height.

3 ) C-3 Coupler specifications:
Thickness = 4mm (.16 in) Cylinder ID = 105mm (4.125 in) Adjustable up to +120mm (4.75 in)
a) The addition of couplers creates heights from 200mm to 1030mm.
b) Also comes with the “Safety Stop” on the threads and a small hole to disengage the safety stop clip.
c) Four vertical reinforcement ribs located on the outside, and a 3mm thick plate with reinforcment ribs in the centre of the internal cylinder, ensures structural integrity. eight holes in this plate provides drainage.
d) Two slots titled “Unlocked/Lock” accommodates a locking key that provides a simple and reliable way of keeping the adjusted height secured in place.
4) Circular spacer tabs :
Thickness = 2mm
a) Tabs are mechanically fixed to the pedestal head by simply snapping them into place.
b) The circular tab with its cylindrical base allows 360° rotation, now allowing paving units with 30° / 45° / 60° / 90° / 120° / 135° / 150° or 180° angles to be installed.
5) Locking Keys (Patented System):
a) Keys are located in the base of the BC-4 or BC-5 units.
b) Used to secure the Base, Coupler, and Head unit in place at the adjusted height.
6) BC-PH5 slope Corrector 0 to 5% specifications:
Dimensions: Outside Diameter = 225mm (8.85 in) Height at 0% = 13mm (.5 in) Height at 5% = 18mm (.7 in)
a) Two offsetting discs, factory assembled.
b) Rotate the discs until the desired slope correction has been made, adjustments from 0 - 5% can be achieved in .5% increments.
c) The correct slope value can be viewed through an oval viewing window, and is held in place with pins.
d) The slope corrector assembly is now positioned under the pedestal in the direction of the slope to be corrected with the aid of the indicator arrow printed on the lower disc. The slope value number of the upper disc should correspond with the slope direction number of the lower disc. The pedestal will now be in a perfectly vertical position.
7) BC Batten support Plate specifications:
Dimensions: 154mm x 154mm x 11mm H (6 in x 6 in x .43 in H) Supporting Surface: 237cm2 (36 in2)

a) Batten Support Plates are used for supporting wooden or composite decking materials.
b) Can also be used to support pipe or other types of conduit.
c) The adjustment guides can receive battens in the following dimensions:
35 / 40 / 45 / 50 / 55 / 60 / 65 / 70 / 75 / 80 / 85 / 90mm or more.
d) Battens are fastened to the adjustment guides with stainless steel screws.
