esSterilizing Dentronix Bite Sticks

dentronix currently sells two models of bite sticks - the DBS2 (purple plastic handle) and the DBS4 (tan plastic handle).

The DBS2 will withstand sterilizing temperatures up to 270˚F. This item can be sterilized via steam autoclave.

The DBS4 will withstand sterilizing temperatures up to 450˚F. This item can be sterilized via steam or dry heat systems. Do not exceed maximum temperature or the plastic will melt.

There are numerous types of sterilizers available to the dental professional with differing sets of operating parameters. Always follow the sterilizer manufacturer’s instructions for use for the particular model you are using to sterilize instruments. Sterilizers should be biologically monitored for efficacy in accordance with regional standards and regulations.

Regardless of tip material specified, all instruments should be cleaned prior to sterilization in an ultrasonic cleaning machine or by hand using a non-enzymatic, phosphate free, chemically neutral solution with an effective rust inhibitor. dentronix recommends our DMP-USP product or equivalent. After cleaning, rinsing water should not be allowed to settle on the instrument tips for prolonged periods greater than a few min-utes. When using steam sterilization and bagging instruments for processing and storage, always allow for completion of the drying cycle in the sterilizer being used. Both of these bite stick handles are made from plastic. Plastics are hydrophilic materials, so soaking these items in chemical disinfectants is not recom-mended as they will absorb toxic liquids over time.
