Internationalization strategy of the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Granada

In January 2017 the University of Granada approved its Internationalization Strategy with the aims of its international activity in the context of its responsibility inthe search of solutions for the world social challenges. The Faculty of Pharmacy, in concordance with the University, has also defined its InternationalizationStrategy, in order to stablish an itinerary and specific guidelines about its internalization policy. It is an evidence of the solid commitment that the Dean Team havewith these strategy in all the fields in which its members are involved.

The concept of Internalization goes beyond the signing of bilateral agreements that allow the mobility of students and staff, and must involve to all the Universitylevels, from the teaching and the research to the transfer, dissemination and visibility of their results. Nevertheless, it is a confirmed and clear fact that themobility has a strong impact in the personal and academic training of the students, and in the possibilities of labour inclusion. This is the reason why the Faculty ofPharmacy of the University of Granada has a serious commitment to encourage, facilitate and promote the international mobility of its students by means ofdifferent actions of this Internationalization Strategy.

ACTION 3: Staff Mobility (“PDI” and “PAS”)

Encouragement of the mobility- Motivation and diffusion of the different mobility

programs for the University Staff of the Faculty ofPharmacy.

- Welcome of staff from other International Universitiesby means of the International Welcome Centre.

Internationalization Actions

ACTION 2: Students Mobility

2A) OUT-Mobility: Tutorial Action Plan- To guide new students about internationalization of their curriculum:

destinations for international mobility, double degrees, promotion of thelearning of languages.

- Talks to all the students to inform about the different mobility programs.- Talks given by students who had mobility experiences to show the

improvement in their training and curriculum.

2B) OUT-Mobility: Training of “Tutores Docentes” (Departmental ErasmusCoordinators)Training of the Erasmus Coordinators regarding to learning agreements,coordination with Partners, credits recognition and grades conversion.

2C) OUT-Mobility: International MobilityAwardTo give an award to the student that aftermobility proves the highest impact in theacademic curriculum.

2D) IN-Mobility- Support the integration of the IN-

coming students through theInternational Welcome Centre.

- Reception Day at the Faculty ofPharmacy for IN-coming students.

- Updating of the mobility section inthe web of the Faculty of Pharmacy,and increasing the English version.

4A) Language Accreditation of the StaffEncouraging of the language training of theTeaching staff to promote the teaching in English.

4B) Teaching in English- To provide all the teaching guides of the courses

of the three degrees on the Faculty of Pharmacyin English.

- To increase the number of subjects with teachingin English.

4C) Cultural Exchange and Language PracticeTo provide places at the Faculty of Pharmacy for theinteraction between the local and IN-comingstudents for the cultural exchange and practice oflanguages.

ACTION 4: Internationalization of the teaching at the UGR

5C) Dissemination of the Researchcarried out at the Faculty of PharmacyDissemination through thecommunication channels of our Faculty(website, informative screens, socialnetworks…) and through “Canal UGR” ofall the news related to the researchcarried out by the research groups of ourFaculty of Pharmacy.

ACTION 5: Internationalization of the research at the UGR

5A) Participation in International ConferencesPresentation of the results obtained in the research groups of the Facultyof Pharmacy in international congresses and conferences of high standing.

5B) Organisation of International Activities- Organisation of seminars directed to students

and teaching staff given by prestigiousinternational speakers.

- Encouraging of the organization at the Faculty ofPharmacy of international congresses,conferences and workshops about specializedfields.

ACTION 1: International Inter-institutional Agreements

1A) Audit of existing bilateral agreementsUpdating of the information of our Partners, particularly the details relatedwith the language requirements.

1B) Signature of new bilateral agreementsOpening of new bilateral agreements forstudents and staff. We will focus in the signatureof agreements with Universities in which theinstruction language is English.

1C) International Double Degrees- Consolidation and revision for improvement of the Double Degree in

Pharmacy with the University Federico II in Naples.- To set new International Double Degrees in motion.

1D) New International Mobility Activities andPlacements- Increasing of the offer of “Estancias

Formativas Breves”- Diffusion and promotion of International

Placements (Erasmus Placements)
