Project Title
Strategic/Defence Technology Asymmetry and Corresponding Policy Implications in the
Indian Context (Tentative)
Project Summary
This project aims to address a highly interdisciplinary topic of Technology-Policy framework and Defence technology centric case-studies. The project will be a first of its kind experiment where for a high-impact and focused end goal only serving Defence officers specifically involved with policy formulation will be considered for the position. The project will be floated between IIT-Delhi, JNU and a Defence Think Tank of repute. The government has recently taken several initiatives towards self-reliance in the Defence sector (such as the strategic partnership model), to bring down India’s Defence imports and promote self-reliance. However, Defence Technology Asymmetry in the global scene continues to widen and is challenging to overcome in a short time. Despite no paucity of talent in the country, the Defence industry, especially the private sector is not able to substantially meet the requirements of the Defence Forces. Careful analysis and implications of relevant global and domestic policies is required with a tech-first centric approach.
