JANUARY 2016 ISSUE 19 Friends’ Meetings…Who are The Friends?
The Friends are a non-profit volunteer group who know that libraries are essential to the educational and cultural spirit of the community. The Friends of Huntingdon Valley Library work to focus interest in the library and to add the extras that tax dollars do not cover - the resources for additional programming, much needed equipment, and support for summer reading programs for all ages. This moves the library from Good to GREAT! Our library is the cornerstone of the community and provides opportunities for all to engage in the joy of life-long learning. Our Executive Board Members are: Linda Braun, Carol Cei, Ann Gardiner, Steve Irwin, Cheryl Levine, Andee Polakoff, Marilyn Rubin, Karen Schwartz, Pam Spiller, Michele Weinstein and Laurie Wunderle We welcome interested community members to our meetings on the first Thursday of the month at 12:30 (September through June). Interesting programs are presented after the Friends meeting. January 7 – TD Bank Affinity Partnership
February 4 – Preparing your home for Sale Your ideas for programs and improvements to the library are important for the library’s growth. If you cannot come to the afternoon meetings you can still become a partner in support of the library by becoming a Friend with your tax-deductible donation. Our membership year runs January thru December.

A Note from our Library Director – Sharon Moreland-Sender
The Board is pleased to share its new mission: To provide a vibrant welcoming environment where everyone
will engage, explore and enjoy. With your input, we determined that we need to focus on partnership,
lifelong learning, technological literacy, creative expression, community involvement and we need to continue to be the hub of
our community. So, our 2016 programs, services and collections will reflect the strategic goal priorities of Collaboration,
Education, Innovation, Inspiration, Participation and Destination! Look for Sunday hours, expanded teen services and programs,
and computer classes in the new Friends Learning Lab.
