How to write a great persuasive speech!

You have 30 seconds to get your audience’s attention

• 38% of your impact = voice• 55% of you impact = body language

• Only 7% of the impact of your speech comes from your words

First, we start with the head...

The hair represents the INTRODUCTION to the speech. We start casually, perhaps with an introduction to the topic.

The hair represents the WOW! statement that grabs the audience’s attention...obviously!

Introduction continued...

• The mustache represents the personal connection...what experience have YOU had with the topic; or why do you feel strongly about your topic?

• Finally, the neck symbolizes your thesis: “why am I speaking?” It connects the introduction to the rest of the speech, and it’s VERY important (much like a neck)

Next, the BODY of your speech!

This is the “muscle” of your speech. Here, you present 3 arguments to support your thesis.

The body continued...Argument 1Argument 2Argument 3

Not only do the arguments add muscle, but

they also add necessary support, much like Nacho Libre’s spandex.

Next, to keep your audience’s attention, tell a story related to your topic.

This adds “pizzazz” (like these knee pads and cape)

To end the body, offer three actions

• One small

• One medium

•One large

And the feet...

They symbolize the conclusion, or end, of the speech. They provide the necessary balance to hold up the argument.

To begin your conclusion...

• Start by restating your thesis• Then make another WOW!

statement – leave your audience with a lasting impression/thought that will stay in their heads long after the speech
