introductionHolywells Park is 67 acres (28 ha.) with ahistory dating back to medieval times. TheCobbold family bought what was the PittsFarm estate in 1811 to use the park's springwater for their brewery business. It was theCobbolds who renamed the area Holy Wells.The Cobbolds sold the estate in 1930 to LordWoodbridge who subsequently bequeathedthe land to Ipswich Corporation and wasopened as a park in 1936.

Holywells Park is designated a ConservationArea with two listed buildings - the StableBlock and Conservatory - and is on theEnglish Heritage Register of Parks andGardens of special historic interest.
