POTENTIAL CAREERS INCLUDE: Emergency Medical Technician (EMT),

Athletic Training, First Responder, Paramedic COURSES INCLUDE:

COLLEGE MAJOR OPTIONS INCLUDE: Kinesiology, Biology, Nursing, Athletic Training

and Pre-Medicine

HEALTH PROFESSIONALS

POTENTIAL CAREERS INCLUDE:Surgical Technologist, Medical Assistant,

Laboratory Technician/Technologist, Healthcare Administrator, Health Information Coder

COURSES INCLUDE: First Responder, Sports Medicine

COLLEGE MAJOR OPTIONS INCLUDE: Allied Health, Biology, and Pre-Medicine

NURSING

POTENTIAL CAREERS INCLUDE:Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Nursing

Assistant, Registered Nurse (RN), Home Health Aide

COURSES INCLUDE: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

COURSES INCLUDE:Sports Medicine I, II, III & IV

HHMS MEDICALDUAL ENROLLMENT COURSES

Dual Enrollment course allow the high school student to receive college credits.

The following courses are offered through Northshore Technical Community College:

Medical Terminology – HHMS campus

Veterinarian Technician - HHMS campus

Pharmacy Technician - NTCC Campus

Certified Nursing Assistant – NTCC Campus

MEDICAL OPPORTUNITIES

Partnership with North Oaks Sports Medicine, Ponchatoula Therapy, Bell Oaks, and North Cypress Fitness.

Certified Athletic Trainer on campus full-time CPR certification on campus Industry Based Certification Medical Professionals serve as mentors and guest

MEDICAL OPPORTUNITIES

Clinical lab settings for hands-on experience 90 minute science classes with labs which feed

into the medical magnet Guidance in community service opportunities to

establish networks A focused school to career emphasis

HHMS MEDICAL MAGNET COURSES

Students who enroll at HHMS through the Medical Magnet Program are required to chose one of the following tracks: First Responder/Emergency Medical Technician Sports Medicine

Electives provide through the above curriculum: Allied Health I Allied Health II Medical Terminology

MEDICAL MAGNET CONTRACT

Medical Magnet Students are required to fulfill the following: 95% or higher attendance record

Four years of math (beginning Algebra I)

Four years of Science

Two years of Technology

Maintain at least a “C” average – 2.0 GPA

Take the ACT one time during the junior yearDevelop and maintain a portfolio with

coursework, field experience and community service

Forty hours of community service (10 per year)Comply with HHMS code of conduct as

specified in the course guidelines of the student handbook (continues)

Excessive Absences or tardiness will result in probation and possible removal from program

Academic decline will result in probation for one semester

Failure to maintain 2.0 GPA for two consecutive semesters will be dismissed from program

MEDICAL MAGNET WITHDRAWAL PROCESS

Students who wish to withdraw from the Medical Magnet Program will adhere to following: Submit a written notice and withdrawal form to

central office 45 days PRIOR to the end of the semester.

A student may return to their zoned school at the END of the semester or at the end of the year.
