What is ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINTABILITY?

An environment can be met without reducing its capacity to allow all people to live well, now and in the

future

SUSTAINABLE DESIGN

Green developments/projects should at least incorporates.

• Land planning & design methods that minimize disturbances to natural environment.

• Site developments that reduce erosion, minimize paved surfaces, & protect vegetation.

• Water conservation systems, both indoors and outdoors.

• Energy efficient cooling/heating systems, appliances, lighting & building envelope

• Material selection systems based on recyclability, durability, & energy used to create, transport and

install the materials.

• Waste reduction, reuse & recycling during production, construction & life of the home.

AAC PRODUCTS ARE COMPATIBLE GREEN BUILDING MATERIALS

• Conserve and protect earth’s precious natural resources without consume the top soil

• Utilize recycled products. i.e fly-ash from thermal powerplant

• Low energy consumed in the production process

• Do not produce pollution during manufacturing and life ( no toxic gaseous emitted).

• Produce minimal production waste (recycled during production).

• Produce low construction waste ( can be recycled into internal plaster)

What is AAC?

• Sand + Cement + Lime + Expanding Agent

• Autoclaved – Steam Curing Processes

• Aerated - Cellular Structure – 50 % Air pores

• 1/3 weight of the ordinary concrete

• Excellent acoustic and heat insulation properties

Greencon’s ProfileAbout Us

In year 1945, Mr. Tan Tek Jin the

founder of the company started

the business as a building

hardware shop in Muar, Johor.

9Land area = 15 acres (Build Up area: 10 acres)

Capacity = 200,000 m3/year

Newly imported machinery

Greencon’s ProfileAbout Greencon

In year early 2017, Kim Hoe

Thye Industries Sdn. Bhd

has acquired AAC factory

from Saint-Gobain under

Henner brand

10Land area = 30,000 sqm

Capacity = 180,000 m3/year

Lower dead load (reduced by 55% total weight of wall) :

1. Smaller R.C structure 2. Smaller foundation design

2. Energy Savings

15

• The excellent thermal insulation properties can significantly reduces the total load of refrigeration and air conditioning.

• AAC blocks reduces operation and maintenance cost

4. Better Workability

17

AAC Blocks can be easily:

• Cut

• Drilled

• Nailed

• Milled

• Grooved

to fit individual requirements.

5. Precise Products

18

• Dimension tolerance is ±2mm

• Shrinkage is 0.5mm/m

• With a tighter tolerance, users can use thinner finishing to accommodate the dimensional deviation on the surface of the wall. This gives 80% savings in usage.

• With thinner finishing (5mm thick skim coat), this will improves the mortar workability that give 2x faster application rate than conventional clay bricks.

OBJECTIVE

To observe the impact on indoor temperature by using AAC vs normal bricks

• This main objective of this test is to find a material that gives “cooler home” which 2ºC to 3ºC lower

than normal brick houses

• Two identical houses built by the Sime UEP with one using AAC masonry and another using standard

clay and sand cement bricks. Both with aluminium foil under roof tiles.

• Both houses were monitored with automatic portable data loggers at location as below:

• Upstairs master bedroom

• Downstairs sitting room

CONCLUSION

The results showed that the temperature inside an AAC house was lower than that in a

brick house at all times.

• The main objective has achieved to find a material that gives “cooler home” which

2ºC to 3ºC lower than normal brick houses

• The night time temperature at 28 to 29ºC temperature considered comfortable for

sleeping.
