GREEN LEAP DELHI- GOVT OF DELHI INITIATIVE
• This was an initiative by Department of Environment and Forest, Delhi Government. People residing in Delhi were asked to plant a million trees in the monsoon of 2011.
• Various sapling distribution points were made in busy public areas and people were asked to plant these saplings.
• Main motive was to make Delhi 33% green, which is considered ideal for any city.
PROBLEM STATEMENT AND COMMUNICATION
CHANNELS
Blogs & micro site
• Everyone these days is keen to do something for environment, this fact was cached upon and people were asked to contribute for the cause in their own sweet way.
• Various facts about environment were shared. People were informed about the advantages of planting saplings and how small contribution from their end could make a big difference.
• Various problems faced by people in their areas/colonies regarding greenery were addressed and appropriate solutions were suggested.
CREATIVE STRATEGY
• People were informed about what is needed to preserve the environment.
• They were persuaded to take steps to make their city greener.
• Information about, various sapling distribution points was shared.
• Various contests were conducted to enhance the engagement on page, winners were given eco-friendly gratification.
• This was supported by various offline activities, like hoardings on bus stops, radio ads etc.
COMMUNICATION APPROACH
Use the existing suite of data that we have and convert it to:
•Infographics
•Cartoons
•Slides
•Videos
•Banners
•Comics for daily usage on Facebook
CONTENT PROPOGATION & CREATION
Offline-online initiative was a huge success and people really appreciated the efforts put in by Delhi Govt. A huge number of people participated in this campaign. And, one million saplings were planted within a very short span of time!
