15-20 minutes of independent reading will be allotted every morning in class.

New words will be given on aweekly basis. Students areexpected to study at home

daily and should be preparedfor their spelling test on Fridays.

Students must know their multiplication tables from zero through twelve.

Term 1: Earth, Our Home – sources of energy of living things, animals, plants, the Earth’s geology, pressure

Term 2: Air in Movement – clouds, air, the atmosphere, weatherTerm 3: Profession: Engineer – heat energy transformations, gravity, force

Students will be exploring ethical issues and a variety of religious cultures through different approaches. They will be working on projects that will require individual research as well as the ability to work collaboratively with a group. The marks allotted will be based on the final project as well as each member’s individual contribution, as determined by the student him/herself, the other group members and the teacher.

Students will create, interpret and appreciate various forms of Art. The student will be evaluated on the effort and use of the

techniques that will be taught, as well as the capability to complete the work in a timely

manner.

MusicGRADE 6: Will be taking part in the P-Bone program at the cultural center every Wednesday where they will learn music theory and how to play the trombone.

GRADE 5: Will be taught theory by me using the SMARTboard and students will also get the chance to sing and play.

Homework will be written in their agendas eachday and should be signed on a nightly basis as

acheck to ensure completion and understanding.

The maximum amount of time spent on homework should be 45 minutes to one hour. If it seems that the homework will take longer, stop. Then write a note in their agenda outlining the problem for me.
