This is one of a short series that I've adapted from short presentations, purely for the purposes of being able to print the hand-outs, for a number of events that I've attended recently. This one is about our fledgling work on enabling queries on the ALISS Engine, from across the web

story

The ALISS Engine isn’t just something to put data in. It’s intended to support getting data back out again, and helping it pop up all over. This story is about some work we’ve been doing with GPs and their local networks, and our library colleagues, while we try out novel ways of making ALISS data available wherever people want it to be.

The SGHD-sponsored GP ‘LINKS’ Project ran in spring 2011, involving 6 practices in ‘the Deep End’ in Glasgow and 2 in Fife

They discovered and contacted local resources

And listed them on spreadsheets

ALISS found them on the web

And indexed them on the Engine

Meanwhile, how about getting info back out of the Engine? A javascript-based ‘widget’ enables queries on the Engine to be run from any website…

…The widget will underpin the pages that these wire-frames preview here
