Che Guevara

Was going to Medical school in South America when he took a motorcycle trip through South America.

He was taken by the poverty and famine that he saw by the capitalist exploitation

This began his idea of a radical Marxist Revolution that he led throughout several countries. He landed in Cuba with Castro and began a revolution against the government. This is where he began urban guerrilla warfare.

Che’s Influence

• He is seen as a hero and a role model to those in the Chicano movement and to other social movements across the nation.

• Those in Cuba see Che more as a hero than Castro. There are more murals of Che in the streets than of Castro.

Che’s Views

• Che did not like the idea of capitalism and wanted overthrow it.

• He did not acknowledge governments, but rather, people.

Why we look up to him

• Che was a very personable man that was sympathetic to the people. He only wanted the best for his people, and that is something that the governments did not want.
