FROM THE PASTOR Dear Friends in Christ, Rejoice in the Lord always, again I say rejoice! The snappy tune to these words come to mind as I put these thoughts down on a blank page the Friday before Gaudete (Rejoice) Sunday. While this is the Fourth Sun-day of Advent I am s ll joyful for countless blessings. The celebra ons honoring Mary that we just concluded on the Feasts of the Immaculate Concep on and Our Lady of Guadalupe were fabulous. Thank you for joy-fully par cipa ng in them. If you truly wish to be prepared for a Christ-mas celebra on that is worthwhile I encourage you to par cipate in the sacrament of reconcilia on this Wednesday at 6:30pm. We will have a number of priests available for confession at this annual celebra on of our Advent Penance Service. I will not be with you today for the 10:30am liturgy due to my commitment to concelebrate at the Installa on Mass by Bishop Lynch for Father Eugene Gancarz at Resurrec on in Riverview. Fi y migrant families will be rejoicing in Cronin Hall this a ernoon as our parish migrant ministry offers them a Christmas party. The good work done at the outreach ministry of My Brother’s Keeper has caused much rejoicing amidst the 150-200 people who come for help every week. A er the 6pm Mass this evening there will be a drawing for the final item le over from the Old West Gold Rush Auc on & Gala. One lucky winner will be rejoicing all the way to Walt Disney World with two park hopper passes. All of this joy and rejoicing is in the midst of a very stressful sea-son. We are mindful of our brothers and sisters in Christ that have been living away from the sacramental life of the Church for a me. As we en-ter the Catholics Come Home campaign, we are more aware of our re-sponsibility to be good hosts and greeters to the seekers. We also are keeping in prayer those who mourn and have lost loved ones. While their faith can help bring about real hope and joy the cloud of grief neverthe-less comes at mes when it is least expected and sadness is close at hand. The prayer list of those dealing with serious or even terminal illness is long. We pray that those who suffer are able to somehow experience joy in the opportunity to share in the paschal mystery. Finally we call to mind that too many people in our world are lonely and despair escalates during the holidays. In this final week before Christmas, look for the opportunity to be especially sensi ve to those who might be most vulnerable, it will surely bring you great joy when you find yourself helping others. Peace in Christ,
Fr. Tom J. Anastasia Pastor

The Old West Gold Rush Auc on & Gala”.
