MAGNIFY. MULTIPLY. MATURE. MINISTER.
New Location and Parking Info - The Fall Festival will be in our newest parking lot on Greensboro Avenue between 8th and 9th Streets (at the Family Ministry Building). Eighth Street between Greensboro and 23rd Ave. will be closed for this event. Please park on other adjacent streets, in our other parking areas or in the parking deck.
Fall Festival Volunteers NeededContact Genna Champion (genna@fbctuscaloosa.org or 205-391-3115) if you would like to volunteer to serve a shift during the Fall Festival in the food area, registration, or face painting; if you will bring your vehicle with the trunk area decorated for “Trunk or Treat”; or if you will hand out candy at a trunk.
Invite Someone! Pick up a few Fall Festival cards (placed around the church) as you invite your neighbors, coworkers and others you meet in the community.
Instead of the annual Church-wide Thanksgiving Dinner, we will share Thanksgiving meals with the Hay Court community, help support the Community Soup Bowl’s Thanksgiving bag distribution, and deliver meals to some of our homebound members. Volunteers are needed for the Packing Team (place the meals into individual carry-out containers) and the Delivery/Distribution Team (take the meals to Hay Court and others) on Sunday, November 19. Those who deliver should be willing to greet and pray with those who receive meals, if the recipient wishes. Sign up information will be available soon in Sunday School classes, or you can call the church office at 205-345-7554 or email Byates@fbctuscaloosa.org. Please consider how you can help serve our community on November 19.

Shoebox Dedication Sunday: November 12National Collection Week: November 13-20
Completed shoeboxes are starting to come in! Have you started your boxes yet? Visit samaritanspurse.org/occ for details and ideas for packing your shoeboxes with gifts, school supplies and hygiene items for children around the world. • If you bring your filled boxes before November 12, please place them in the Guest Services area. If you bring your boxes on Dedication Sunday (November 12), please bring them with you to the Sanctuary and place them at the altar. We will have a special time of prayer that day for those who will deliver the boxes and for the children who will receive them. We will especially pray that the children will choose to participate in “The Greatest Journey”, a 12-week discipleship course offered as a follow-up to the shoebox distribution parties.• As you pack boxes, remember: No toothpaste, candy, liquids, breakable items, medicine, food, war-related toys allowed; shipping cost per box is now $9.• We have a few empty boxes still available in Guest Services. Brochures with instructions/labels also available.• If you have items left-over after filling your boxes, bring those to church. They can be used to fill additional boxes.
Drop-Off Location Volunteers Needed!Volunteers still needed for our Drop-Off Location, especially on November 16-20. This year First Baptist Church will serve as one of the community Drop-Off Locations for Operation Christmas Child during Collection Week, November 13-20. We need at least five volunteers during collection hours each day to greet people who bring in boxes, help them fill out the log book forms, count the boxes, pack boxes into cartons, pray over the shoeboxes, and be available to talk with anyone who would like to know more about Christ. Sign up lists are available in Sunday School classes, and outside the Sanctuary near the elevators. Volunteers must be age 15 and up. If you missed the training and info meeting on Sunday, October 15, you can attend the next one on Sunday, November 5 at 4 p.m. in Fellowship Hall, Room 2.
Texas Disaster Relief TripNovember 20-25 (Thanksgiving Week) This team is planning to work in Katy, Texas, a suburb of Houston, helping with rebuilding efforts. Spaces still available for adults (anyone who has completed high school and older). Contact Kristy Myers in the Missions office for details about joining this team: 632-3074 or kmyers@fbctuscaloosa.org. Most expenses for team members will be covered.
Thursday PrayerThe Chapel is open every Thursday for prayer from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Come at any point during that time to pray individually or as a small group. Use a portion of your lunch break to spend a few peaceful moments in prayer. Meet a friend to pray for a need and to offer praise and thanks to God.Remember that you are welcome to come to church at any time on weekdays to pray. We will help you find a quiet place not already in use by another group.
Thank You NoteWords cannot begin to express our thankfulness for the kindness and love shown to us over the last several months. Flowers, food, phone calls and prayers have meant so much to us. How blessed we are to have such a loving and caring church family. - Donald and Katelyn Hardy
