FEEDBACK ON LS1

VIP visits• Restoring Peter Sharp room to original condition

• Carpet, projector OFF, laser pointer put away, screen retracted, rubbish cleared.

• Requests to reception guests in front of SL53 instead of SDX5 • Dedicated VIP parking spot to be set-out

• In the event of an un-usual itinerary, escorting staff should be warned in advance

• VIP keys should only be allocated to VIP visits• Guides for regular visits to be warned of VIP visits to help

speedy transit of the party through building• Bigger safe box for VIP visits when magnet is on

Regular visits• Need one more key in key cabinet?

• Sometimes 3 parties on site…

Procurement• When a DAI is rejected, requester as well as creator

should be notified• Shorter approbation list for small items• Urgent material purchases take too much time to get

through the system• Deliveries to point 5 require more availability of truck

drivers • Deliveries in winter by snowy weather take very long

Civil Engineering• Ticketing system vs dedicated contact…• Painters – good reactivity• Tiler…. SCX5 toilets tiles

Access Control• Site gate – OK• Card reader for SX5 could be needed• PADs – Iris scanners still have a high rejection rate• MADs – OK• More reminders needed that both EDH access requests

AND ACT request are compulsory• Attendance to TECOPA would be nice• Token distribution: Many jobs did not have ACT requests

or EDH access request and were granted access using tokens• Should we list the situations requiring such procedure

Alarm systems• Smoke detection – A number of false alarms• Evacuation – A number of false alarms• Attendance to TECOPA would help avoid misunderstood

maintenance announcements• Alarms that could be generated are not always mentioned

in [IMP]ACT request• Surprises need to be handled Ad Hoc

Locks and Keys• Paper procedures only

• Why not an EDH doc?

Guardians• On Saturdays, all doors are (re)locked frequently

• Procedure to be prepared to leave doors open when CMS staff on site

Parking• Road too narrow by SCX5

• Remove parking spots in bend?• Broaden road?

Fire Brigade• No comment

• It’s a good thing :0)

Garbage sorting • Too many goods are lowered underground wrapped in

cardboard/plastic packaging• Steel pallets to be made available• All packaging material to be disposed off at the site sorting tip yard

Cleaning

• GS UXC55 clean up contract stopped in Dec 2014 – complicated to extend until the end of LS1

• Cleaning work underground seems to be diverted to surface areas…

• Snow clearing - not believable that ONET clears building entrances

Transport• Shifts – easy to organise• Maintenance of cranes, Cherry pickers etc.

• Anticipate refurbishing of cherry pickers well before EYETS• Quality of rented SL/Cpickers could sometimes have been better

• Snow clearing – Area dedicated to snow storage have to be evaluated and used once emergency operations are complete. External car park to be included in scheme. Dedicated scheme with task sharing (Transport, ONET, Gardeners…) to be reviewed

• Lifts – Good to have maintenance operations between 06:00 and 08:00. • Experts could have been better assigned to the various repair operations• Procedure for ‘soft’ evacuation (e.g. lift broken but no urgency) to be defined

together with CCC• Teams are swapped between surface and underground on a weekly basis

• Good to learn all handling procedures• Sometimes complicated to know who is in charge

• Do we need EDH transport requests for smaller jobs (move a pallet)? Sometimes leads to a lot of negotiation…

• PIX table feet have been repeatedly damaged throughout LS1• Better handling care needed

EN-CV• Good participation to TECOPA

• Good communication makes for a better job!

EN-EL• Small works not always announced, especially in surface

building. Limited impact but…

EN-ICE• No comment :0)

EN-MEF• Doors - New coordinator very pro-active• Safety coordinators – Good attendance to TECOPA• Site manager – Good attendance + pro-active when

dealing with waste sorting• Gas suppliers – Delivery service could be more careful…

• e.g. bottles not secured correctly

• Survey – Good flexibility. A second team would be useful…

TE-VSC• Good availability• More resources could have been deployed if they had

been available

TE-CRG (Cryo)• Presence at TECOPA when needed• Helpful when swift move of transfer line required

PH-DT• Good attendance at TECOPA

IT-CS• Land line phones: OK• GSM: OK• Wifi: OK• Star point maintenance: More care should be taken when

working in underground racks• Always switch off water when working in rack• Impact of activities were difficult to understand (e.g. PA affected…)• Could IT provide a better analysis of the risks?

• Groups need to understand their own equipment

• Interdependencies should be better highlighted • Plans to increase IT sockets capacities should be announced well in

advance• Could we know what are the long term plans to improve the IT

infrastructure?

IT-CS (contd…)• Not optimal to keep DAQ1 operational during the install/deploy of

DAQ2

• For any other major DAQ upgrade in USC, current cable trays need to be emptied before

• For new Pixel (YETS 16-17), infrastructures already in place• For LS2, box to box replacement foreseen• For LS3, full new DAQ architecture, i.e. current S-link, FMM, Fibres

(DAQ1+DAQ2) to be removed…

• For OLC, no enough buffer space when huge delivery/removal• Musical chairs is not a funny game…

• Make systems less inter dependent in order to minimise the downtime. i.e. starpoint, database, UPS, cooling/ventilation

• Too many perturbations everywhere when servicing one of them
