*** Presented by Guy Collins at State of the Map 2013 *** For the video (if available) please see http://lanyrd.com/2013/sotm/scphkt/ *** Full schedule available at http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/State_Of_The_Map_2013 Guy will discuss the initial map creation and the addition of more and better information. Better mapping means greater utility and acceptance of OSM as a viable alternative to other mapping solutions. Mapping should be seen as an evolutionary process as the map is built up from nothing to eventually showing whole countries. Within areas the completeness varies based upon how much activity the local community put in and what their interests are. A model will illustrate how best to help complete areas. Examples will be shown on how some UK places have made great strides to complete their areas, whilst highlighting some areas that have not managed to map to the same extent.
