� Impaired driving is a deadly crime that’s commonthroughout America and is especially commonamong young males 21 to 34 years old.
� Each year, nearly 12,000 people die on our roadsdue to impaired driving. That would be equal toabout 30 jumbo jets crashing each year.
Lorain County Injury and Fatal Crash Count:
� 1/5th of Lorain County Crashes in 2010 werealcohol-related.
� As of October 31, 2010 in Lorain County, therewere 15 total crashes with 16 people killed in2010. Of those 15 crashes, 3 have been confirmedas OVI (Operating a Vehicle While Impaired)related.
� In 2009, Lorain County had the highest amountof arrests for Felony OVIs in the entire state.

**Whipped cream directions: In bowl,mix 1 cup of very cold whipping cream,1 teaspoon of vanilla, 2 tablespoons ofpowdered sugar. Whip for about 4minutes or until thick. Place inrefrigerator.

Pour half of the7-Up, ginger ale and punch into the bowl.Mix well. If the punch loses its punch(pardon the pun) when the ice melts, mixin a packet of raspberry Kool-Aid orsimilar powdered drink mix. Return theremaining sherbet and ice to the freezerand keep the remaining pop and punchchilled for the second batch.

Motorcycles:• Alcohol negatively affects balance and
coordination skills essential to operating amotorcycle:
• In the United States in 2008, 32% of fatalities inmotor vehicle traffic crashes involved at least onedriver or motorcycle rider with a BAC of .08 orabove — an average of one fatality every 45minutes.
• 29% of drivers with BACs of .08 or aboveinvolved in fatal crashes in 2008 were motorcycleriders, the highest percentage of alcohol-relatedfatalities of all roadway crashes.
Time of Day and Day of Week:• Alcohol-related deaths are more likely at
night: The rate of alcohol impairment amongdrivers involved in fatal crashes was four timeshigher at night than during the day.
• Alcohol-related deaths are more likely on theweekends: Nationally in 2008, 15% of all driversinvolved in fatal crashes during the week werealcohol-impaired, compared to 32% onweekends.
• Children get killed by drunk drivers: In theUS, during 2008, a total of 1,347 children age 14and younger were killed in motor vehicle trafficcrashes. Of this total, 46% were occupants of avehicle with a driver who had a BAC level of .08or higher and 16% occurred in alcohol-impaired-driving crashes.
