1. BACKGROUND• OUT is moving from print to a digital culture, • Emerging trends:

oIncreasing use of learning technologies such as Moodle LMS, CDs, Multimedia, & Mobile phones,

oLimited use of OERs by students despite the potentials, why?

oNeed to develop relevant skills to help lecturers guide students on how to use OERs

• Visit to OUT by OER Africa team in August, 2013>>

• The discussion culminated into a firm decision to develop OER course on “Academic Digital Fluency Course for 21st C Lecturers ”.

• This presentation aims to present the status of OER course development at OUT.

• The approach included:

• preliminary meeting with stakeholders,• capacity building workshops and • workshop for actual design and

development of the OER.

5. WAY FORWARD

• Modules uploaded into MOODLE LMS of the OUT,

• The course is piloted with a group of students at OUT,

• Experiences and lessons learned are shared with ACDE member institutions during ACDE-TCC meeting & ACDE Executive Board meeting in July, 2014,

• ACDE members deliberate on how to develop their own OER which will become Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) that suit their specific contexts.
