District Heat Map

Here’s How It Works…• Work with your shoulder partner• Each pair will get different colored highlighters

(blue, pink, green, yellow, for example)• Each pair at your table will have an SE chart;

however, the charts will not be the same• One pair gets a 6th grade chart, one gets the

7th grade chart and so on down the line…so each table ends up with grades 6-EngIish I

• Decide amongst yourselves who will do which chart…

• Partner A go to the table and get the chart for the grade you and your partner will do

• Partner B get a set of highlighters for you and your partner (remember, 4 highlighters)

Let’s Go Highlighter Happy! • 70% or better = Green• 60-69% = Yellow• 50-59% = Blue• 49% and Below = Pink

Working with your partner, answer the following questions:• How does the display compare to what you would

have expected it to look like?• What are some patterns you’re noticing regarding

the display?• What are some surprises for you?• How might you compare highs and lows?• What are some generalizations you might take?

with the questions• Read the question and determine what part of

the SE is being tested (read the passage if necessary)
