Manyoftheownersmadecreative posters and flyers about the history of theirclassicalcarandwhenitwasmade. The parade was filled withnotonlyclassiccars,but classic motorcycles,wagons, and bikes. Some

Hagerman Car Showowners sold or swappedtheir classical cars, andmany people around thecounty came to enjoy theeventandparade. Classical cars may notfit in with the modern cars theseyears,but theyhavesomethingthatmanymod-erncarsdon’thave-styleandcharacter.Classiccarsstandoutfromthelookalikemoderncarsof todayandcatcheveryone’sattention.

InApril2014,a40yearrollingrulewasintroducedforclassiccarsinBritain.ItmakesanycarsbuiltbeforeJanuary1974,exemptfromroadtax.Thismeansclas-sic carowner in theU.K.willnotpayroadtaxstart-ingin2015.CurrentlyintheU.S.theonlyplaceyoucanavoidtaxonyourvehicleisinAlaska,Delaware,Mon-tana,NewHampshire,andOregon-statethatdonothavesalestax. TheHagermanCarShowwasaveryexcitingeventforfamily and friends. Manypeoplearesharingandtalk-ingaboutthiswellknownevent,andbythetimethe2016Hagermancar showrollsaround,therewillbenewclassiccarstoshow.

The deadline is rapidlyapproachingforIdaho’sstu-dentstoapplyforupcominginternshipopportunitiesinU.S.SenatorMikeCrapo’sWashington, D.C., office, or oneofhissixregionalof-fices throughout Idaho. Stu-dentshaveuntilOctober15tosubmitanapplicationtobeconsideredforanintern-shippositionforthespringsemester. Theinternshipexperience

provides Idaho students auniqueopportunitytolearnaboutCongressandtheleg-islative process firsthand. She was born June 26, 1930, in O’Neill,Nebraska,theyoungestofeightgirlsborntoLeeRoyHiramandHelenRuth(Tomlinson)Taylor.DotenjoyedlargefamilygatheringsofTaylorsandTomlinsonsinNe-braska until 1936 when her family moved to Wyoming and filed a homestead claim. Dot “grew into”thejobofmilkingherdad’sdairycows.AftergraduatingfromhighschoolinDubois,Wyoming,sherantheswitch-boardfortheBureauofReclamationinRiverton,Wyoming,whereshemethersweetheartAnton“Tony”Zlatnik.TheymarriedSeptember2,1951,inRiverton. Becausesheneverhadtheopportunitytogoswimmingasachild,oneofherpersonalaccomplishmentswasovercomingherfearofwaterandlearninghowtoswimasanadult. DotandTonyraisedcherries,peaches,grapes,crab-ap-ples,andappleswhichsheturnedintodeliciousbottledfruit,pies,jams,jellies,andfruitjuices.Theyenjoyedtheoutdoorstogether,huntedarrowheads,duglimbcasts,andbaggedamountaingoat.AfterTonyretired,DotandTonydiscoveredyardsales,andtheirsummerweekendswereplanned.First,buygroceriesatCostcoandWinCoonFridayandthen,hitasmanyyardsalesaspossible.Theyrecentlycelebrated64yearstogether.Totheendofherlife,shedelightedinfamilygatherings,lookingforwardtoseeingchildren,grandchildren,andgreats. ThisweekIwaspackingsilageinapitlikeIhavebeendoingforafewweeks.

Thepitwasgettingprettytallontheupperendoftheroad.AsIwasrollingupthemoundIsawacloudofdustwithatealcoloredcarleadingthedustcloud.“Someonehasstolenmycar!!” Thecarwassittingupneartheendofthepitwiththekeysinit.Ihadnotevenseenanyonenearmycar.Myattentionwasquicklyfocusedonmyclimbingthepitwiththetractorbeingshiftedintohighergears. OnceatthetopofthepitIfoundthecarleadingthedustcloudwasn’tmycarafterall,butaCadillaccoloredlikemycar.But...wherewasthiscargoing? Uponcomingtoastopatthetopofthepit,IwatchedtheCadillacgobyme.Thecarwentdownaroundmypitanddownintosomepenswherecattlewasbeingfed.Iseetheywereopeningsomegates.Apparentlyacattletruckhadjustbroughtinsomecattletobehousedatthefeedlot.Iwentbacktopushingsilage. InafewmomentsIseetheCadillaccomingback,herdingsomeofthecattle.Furtherresearchleadmetoseethatagaldrivingatenwheeltruckloadedwithsilagewasfollowingthecattle,pushingthemdownthelanethatwasgoingaroundthepitofsilageIwaspiling. Thetenwheeldriverwasagoodenoughcowhandtoknowthatcattle,afteralongtruckride,arealittlereadytoexercisefreedom.AsthecattlenearedthepitIwaspushing,Ibegantothink,“ThesecattlecouldrollthroughwhereIwasworkingandmakeaquiteamessofmyjob.” Sowiththat,Ipositionedmytractor,whichhasafourteenfootblade,todirectthecattlearoundtheworkIhadbeenformingwithheightandshape.IfannedthebladebackandforthasIpushedthecattleawayfromthepittowardstheendingpenswhichwouldcontainthecattle.Nowthecattlehavereachedtheirdestination. AsIlookbackattheherdingprocess,IhavediscoveredthatIwasinvolvedinamoderndaycattlemovingoperation.We have a Cadillac leading and pushing the first group of cows.Thenwehaveaten-wheeltruck(Kenworth)followingtherear.Finallywehavemeinatractor,thatweighsaround45,000pounds,directingcattleinthemiddleoftheoperation.Theonlythingshortwasathreewaycallbetweenallofuswithacellphone. Yearsago,mycattleherdingdayswerewitha5-year-oldpairof$90TonyLlamabootswiththehealsrundown,andalargestick.Imayhavebeenaccompaniedbyacowboyhatandanotherpersondoingthesameasme. Thisismeherdingyourfuture CupofTee-Bonesoupyourway.
