The mountain ranges of the Cordilleras in the Northern Luzon is the homeland of different ethnic groups which are culturally and linguistically related.

Composed of Abra, Kalinga, Apayao, Ifugao, Benguet, and a part of Isabela and Cagayan.

It has 13 tribes: Apayao/ Isneg, Applai, Bontoc, Gaddang, Kalinga, Kankanaey, Karao, Ibaloi, Ifugao, Iwak and Tinggunian.

Rituals and music are part of their daily lives.

Every ethnic group has different names and melodies used in their work and rituals

The number of gangsa in a set varies with availability, and depends on the tradition of a particular ethnic group
