Come enjoy a 10 miles of beautiful, varied terrain trail on and around the Olmstead Loop at Knickerbocker Staging in Cool, Auburn State Recreation
Area! The ride will be on single track, tree lined trails, a few fire roads, some gentle hills, some rocky terrain, and of course, a really good P&R hill. This
ride is sanctioned under 2019 NATRC rules and those rules which apply specifically to the Leisure Division. Be a part of Region 1 and NATRC history.
This is the first year for the NEW LEISURE DIVISION! This ride is limited to 40 riders. Enter early!
This ride is well suited for those with young horses ( 4 and above), older horses, riders not wanting to ride as many miles, those new to the sport of
competitive trail. There will be 1 P&R and a maximum of 5 observations by a Certified NATRC Judge. You will receive a team scorecard. No camping
required! You will be able to check in, ride, and check out the same day! It’s truly a “ one day ride”. The ride is paced about 3.5 MPH. Any breed of
horse may participant. No shoeing or leg protection restrictions! Any style of tack however, a saddle is required.
This is a TEAM competition. You will be observed as a team. All observations will be natural to the terrain. You will receive your scorecard with awards
to 10th place in both Adult and Junior ( ages 10-17) classes. Special award for first place in both Adult and Junior classes. We will have debriefing,
awards and Q&A directly following vet out and Judges’ scoring completion. Expect to have fun with your friends, old and new, and of course, our equine
partners!

return with your entry and liability waivers! You will be entitled to full member benefits your first competing year! Take pride in your ride!
American River Grill and Pizza is adjacent to the staging area for your dining pleasure. They have a ‘ back door’ to enter from staging area. On
Friday, they are open until 8:30 pm. Saturday open 7 am to 8:30 pm. Yummy food and beverages ( wine and cold beer, too)
THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW:
>. Auburn State Recreation Area has a $10 daily use fee. IF you have a California State Parks Poppy or Golden Poppy Pass, you are exempt from
payment. You MUST show proof of same and it MUST be displayed on rear view mirror or dash. All others will pay $10 fee as shown on the
registration
>. There are 6 (SIX), camping slots available for an additional $10 fee for Friday night. Call Ride Manager for availability prior to filing out registration.
>. Packets will be available for pick up at 8:00 a.m. Ride agenda will be in your packet & posted at ride office. Briefing follows.
>. Equine Drug Monitoring may be conducted. If you have any questions regarding medications, please review drug protocols.
>. Be sure you have a watch! There is cell service however, using your cell for timing is not recommended.
>. Dogs MUST be on leash at all times ( Park policy) and ONLY at your trailer. No dogs at briefing or awards, please. Offenders will be asked to leave.
>. On-call veterinary and farrier services will be posted at ride office.
>. Restrooms –two permanent and two portable. NO potable human water.- please bring your own. Lots of horse water.
>. Horses must be tied to trailer. No portable pens due to space limitation. Be mindful of equipment near your horse for safety.
>. All minors ( under 17) must be accompanied by an adult in camp. It is strongly recommended that Junior competitors be accompanied by an adult on
the trail. Juniors are required to wear a helmet when mounted.
>. NO SMOKING on trails or in camp unless you are in your vehicle. Extreme fire danger.

Directions to camp:
Interstate 80--- Take Highway 49 exit ( Elm St. exit 119C) toward Placerville. Turn LEFT on High Street and follow signs to Highway 49 South. Stay on
Highway 49 ( it is a winding road) for 2 miles, then turn RIGHT at the bridge to Cool (4 miles) . For those using GPS, use Saint Florian Dr., Cool, Ca. and
it should take you there. The staging area is off Saint Florian Court behind the Cool Fire Station. TURN RIGHT on 7200 Saint Florian Court ( it will be
ribboned and signed for you). Do NOT stop at State Parks Iron Ranger. Turn LEFT at second entrance and you will be met there by staff for your
permits and parking.

NOTES:
All Juniors under 18 are required to wear and ASTI/SEI, Snell or approved equal riding helmet when mounted on
an equine at any time. Minors to be accompanied by adult when in camp and recommended when on trail.
Each Junior rider will receive a liability waiver for both parents to sign. Bring the signed waiver to the ride or return
with entry by mail.
ALL RIDERS AND VOLUNTEERS MUST SIGN Liability Waiver(s) at the ride.
Auburn State Recreation Area requires a $10 day use fee . EXCEPTION:- if you have a valid California
State Parks Poppy Pass or a valid Golden Poppy Pass, you are exempt. YOU MUST DISPLAY your pass
hanging from your rear view mirror or on your dash or $10 fee will apply.
Camping is VERY limited. Only 8 slots permitted for FRIDAY NIGHT CAMPING; 2 are reserved for management.

RIDER LIABILITY WAIVER The following must be signed and dated for entry to be valid:

I UNDERSTAND that competitive riding is a high risk activity, which involves being in remote areas for extended periods of time, far from communications, transportation, and medical facilities; that these areas have many natural and/or man made hazards which ride management cannot anticipate, identify, modify, or eliminate; that horses can be excitable, difficult to control and unpredictable; that personal belongings can be damaged, lost, or stolen, and that accidents can happen to anyone at any time.

Junior riders must wear an ASTM/SEI, Snell, or approved equal equestrian riding helmet at all times while mounted.
To the extent any dispute arises out of this agreement, the parties agree to submit said dispute to binding arbitration before
a neutral arbitrator mutually selected by the parties, said arbitration to be conducted in accordance with the Rules of the
American Arbitration Association. All such arbitrations shall be held in the county or district where NATRC National
headquarters are located. If the prevailing party, NATRC shall be allowed to recover all costs and expenses incurred,
including attorney’s fees and costs. “MY SIGNATURE BELOW CONSTITUTES ACCEPTANCE OF THE ABOVE TERMS AND

LIABILITY WAIVER
CALIFORNIA I acknowledge that I have noted the following WARNING which will also be posted at the ride sign-in location: “WARNING: Equine activities are inherently dangerous. You are assuming the risk of injury or death by participating in this activity. NATRC will not be liable for the injury to or death of a volunteer or participant in this activity.” I also acknowledge the following: I waive all liability of NATRC and its affiliates for any loss, injury or damage which arises from the “inherent risks” of an equine activity.
“Inherent risks of an equine activity” also means a danger or condition that is an integral part of an equine activity, including, but not limited to, any of the following:
(a) Propensity of an equine to behave in ways that may result in injury, death, or loss to
persons on or around the equine; (b) The unpredictability of an equine’s reaction to sounds, sudden movement, unfamiliar
objects, person, or other animals; (c) Hazards, including, but not limited to, surface or subsurface conditions; (d) A collision with another equine, another animal, a person, or an object; (e) The potential of an equine activity participant to act in a negligent manner that may
contribute to injury, death, or loss to the person of the participant or to other persons, including but not limited to, failing to maintain control over an equine or failing to act within the ability of the participant.
