Our logo flows along a timeline that beginswith the expedition of Lewis and Clark,
leading to the founding of Fort Leavenworth,the establishment of the city of Leavenworth
and our current era. Each element can beused separately and can represent many
aspects of our community.
Logo ElementsOur logo is versatile and each element can be used to depict our history and community assets.
The first symbol, an illustration of Lewis and Clark,symbolizes their expedition of the Leavenwortharea in 1804. This symbol can be used as an iconfor our Leavenworth and Fort LeavenworthWayside Tours, historic Santa Fe and OregonTrails and our city being "The First City ofKansas".
When viewing our new logo as a timeline, the flagrepresents the establishment of Fort Leavenworthin 1827. The flag may also be seen as a reflectionof the patriotism of our community, the federalpresence of the Leavenworth VeteransAdministration (VA) Medical Center, the U.S.Penitentiary, Leavenworth (USP Leavenworth), ournational cemeteries and historic Fort Leavenworth.
Logo Elements
The third symbol, an artist's rendering of The Corner Pharmacy, represents the establishment of Leavenworth in 1854 . The symbol also speaks to the uniqueness of the historic downtown shopping district in Leavenworth that attracts residents, visitors and tour groups year round.
The Centennial Bridge was built in 1955, one yearafter Leavenworth celebrated its centennial, and isa popular subject for photography taken inLeavenworth. In our logo, the bridge symbolizesthe connection between Leavenworth's past andpresent and economic progress the developmentof our city's first hotel in 30 years will bring. Thehotel is visible after crossing the Centennial Bridgefrom Missouri into the "First City of Kansas".
