And the name of the game is ASSET MAPPING!

The key to community development “is to locate all the available assets in the local community, to begin connecting them with one another in ways that multiply their power and effectiveness, and to begin to harness local institutions that are not yet available for local development purposes”

(Kretzmann and McKnight, pp. 5-6).

Needs are valuable! They’re a motivating force! Everyone has them!

Center61

Use Case #2: Company to Nonprofit

Need: Center61 is a co-working space supporting nonprofits and social enterprises like Urban Roots and Bike Austin. The co-working space needed office supplies. The law firm needed to responsibly dispose of old supplies.Solution: The local law firm is moving and they are clearing out their office. They don’t want to throw away these perfectly good office supplies, but they don’t need them. So we find them a worthy home with the Co-working space.

Win-Win: In the end both the law firm and the Co-working space win! We reduce the law firm’s waste while getting the resources to C61, where they’re needed most.

H.E.A.L.

Use Case #3: Individual to Nonprofit

Need: H.E.A.L. is a nonprofit run by a formerlyhomeless couple who needed basic officeequipment to run their small yet productiveorganization helping the currently homeless.

Solution: By collecting and storing individualdonations, we’re able to provide a full officesolution to H.E.A.L.

Win-Win: In the end, we saved items from being wasted; rather than selling them atan extreme discount we were able to maximize the item’s value by getting them to the people who would make the best use of them.

Furaha House

Use Case #1: Nonprofit to Nonprofit

Need: Furaha House needed 4 computers for employment search assistance, tutoring, and administrative tasks. Reglue needed positive PR.

Solution: Reglue has extra computers to helpout Furaha House, and they can leverage the positive PR.

Win-Win: In the end both nonprofits win. FurahaHouse got the computers they so badly neededand Reglue got the positive PR that supportedthem in their next Technology Drive to get more computers!

COMMUNITY
