AI DRIVEN DESIGN

With data and analytics revealing increasingly useful data about user behavior, will design evolve to inputting business requirements into a computer and receiving optimal designs instantaneously?

We’ll examine AI models such as TheGrid.io to help formulate an approach for keeping you relevant.

NEW SCHOOLS

When we were in college, there was no ‘Interaction Design’ program. Now, students are coming right out of school with killer portfolios and desire to work long hours to get a foot in the door.

For established designers, is this a threat or a blessing? We’ll look at the changing face of education and how it impacts you.

INSTITUTIONALIZED PATTERNS

Have we solved some problems for good? Is the hamburger menu and persistent global navigation here to stay?

Do we need to keep exploring “different navigation concepts” when we have so many tried-and-true solutions? And if we already have a bank of design solutions to choose from, why do we need you? We’ll help examine how to continue innovating in the face of these institutionalized patterns.

OFF-SHORE COMPETITION

Farming out large design projects wasn’t always an option. Yet increasingly, consultancies are using off-shore teams and small strategic on-shore teams save money on massive projects. In this section we’ll look at the offshore competition, where its strengths are, and where you can still specialize to maintain a competitive edge.

EMERGING TECHNOLOGY

With the internet of things on the rise, designers will find old screen-based tools irrelevant and need to bring skills like animation, storyboarding, and physical computing to the table.

In this section we’ll talk about the necessary skillets for the designers of tomorrow based on industry trends and new technologies we’re adopting.
