December 26, 2017 Dear Trinity family and friends, Again this year, we celebrated our Savior’s birth in a great way! Our Worship Ministry Group (coordinated by Mrs. Lana Hudson and assisted by several volunteers) inspired us with the lovely decorations throughout the church and our choirs and musicians blessed us with spectacular music throughout the season (under Dr. Andy Fowler’s direction). Our Stewardship Initiative for the 2018 budget is well under way, but we still have a way to go. If you have not yet turned in your Stewardship Commitment Card, please do that this week. God continues to bless Trinity Church. Let’s show our gratitude to Him. As we begin a new year of ministry, you will find several items enclosed with this edition of The Good Word which you will want to keep for reference in 2018. Let me point out two important parts of our church’s ministry this coming year, as adopted by the Charge Conference on October 15, led by our District Superintendent, Rev. Tim Rogers. Enclosed is a summary of the 2018 Church Operating Budget. (More detailed breakdowns of line items and departments for various committees, groups, missions, and ministries are available from the Church Business Administrator). You will also find a copy of the 2018 Church Officers, Committees, and Specialized Ministry Groups which were elected by the Charge Conference. Let me take this opportunity to personally THANK ALL OF OUR 2017 OFFICERS AND MEMBERS OF VARIOUS COMMITTEES AND MINISTRY GROUPS who served so faithfully this year! For those who rotate off their positions at the end of 2017, we sincerely appreciate the leadership you have provided. And for those who will serve another year in the same position–OR–will be serving in new positions, your Church thanks you in advance for the commitment you bring to your leadership position in 2018! ALL 2018 OFFICERS AND COMMITTEE/MINISTRY GROUP MEMBERS–PLEASE NOTE: There will be a “Consecration” of officers, committee, and ministry group members at the Morning Worship Services (9:00 & 11:00 a.m.) on Sunday, January 7, 2018. ALSO, on the following Tuesday (January 9, 2018) we will have an “Orientation/Organizational/Training” session for all officers, committee/ministry group members in the Fellowship Hall from 5:30-7:00 p.m. By resolution passed by last year’s Church Council, we have our church “business-related” meetings on Tuesday nights. People are constantly saying to me, “No one ever told me what I was supposed to do.” Come to this meeting and find out. With love and prayers,
Bill End of year.2017b
From the Pastor
From the Director of Programming Happy New Year! I just wanted to take a moment of your time to say thank you to everyone at
Trinity. Over the past three years of working here, you have loved me, encouraged me, helped me grow, helped me find my calling, and prayed for me. Trinity will forever hold a special place in my
heart. Words truly cannot express how much this church family has meant to me. Before coming to Trinity I had no idea what people meant when they said that the church was their family...now I
know. Thank you for opening your arms to me, helping me along the way and for your continued prayers. Please know that I will constantly be praying for all of you as you go through this time of transition, but I know that God has BIG things planned for you. As I start to prepare myself for my new positon, I know that this is going to be the most difficult thing I have ever had to do...but I also know and am comforted by the fact that I have an entire army behind me wanting me to succeed in my new ministry. This is not a good bye, but a see you later. (If you thought you could get rid of me
that easily you are sorely mistaken!) Once again, thank you and I will see you soon! -Rachel Carter
UMYF NEWS
Ski Trip- The annual UMYF Ski Trip will be held on Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend, January 13-16th! We will be going to Winterplace Ski Resort in WV. This trip is full! Parents be sure to check your e-mail for updates on the trip such as leaving and returning times, and items for your child to pack!
Thursday Morning Prayer Breakfast- During the month of January we will meet on the 4th, and 18th !
We will meet at Chick-fil-A at 7am to have breakfast together, a short devotion, and then take the youth to school! High schoolers who drive themselves to the breakfast are responsible for their own transportation. If they are wanting to take other youth with them, that are not their immediate siblings, then I must have written consent from the perspective passenger’s parents saying it is okay for them to ride with that particular youth driver. Otherwise, youth who are dropped off will be expected to ride with a designated adult leader to school.
Big Fish/Little Fish/ Minnows
Fish will resume some time in the
spring.
Please stay tuned for the
Spring start up date!

GREETERS 2018
ALTAR GUILD 2018
Thank You Notes!!
Greetings dear friends, WOW, what a month we have had! CAP went from empty shelves to over flowing shelves. I cannot express enough how very thankful we are to all who donated to us. We gave away around 325 Thanksgiving baskets to our clients. They received a bag of food to prepare a Thanksgiving dinner and a turkey. Without your support with donations of food, money and time, we could not have achieved this. My staff and I plan to visit some of our churches after the holidays to say hello and get to know you better. We are looking forward to this. If anyone would like a tour of CAP, please feel free to call me and set that up or just stop in. We would love to show you around. Also, if you have any group that would like to have me come speak to them, I will be glad to do that as well. Thankful to be serving you, Donna Brodie, Executive Director Churches Assisting People
CAP is in need of a volunteer to work at the
front desk checking in clients. We need

be blessed.

If you have a meeting in any building, especially after office hours, please assure that thermostats
are properly adjusted, lights are off and doors are locked before you leave.
We appreciate your help in keeping costs down and
buildings secure.
We are seeking current NAMES and SCHOOL ADDRESSES for all of our Trinity COLLEGE and GRADUATE students so they can receive a gift card through our higher education outreach program. We don’t want to miss anyone, so we are depending on you to let us know of sons, daughters, grandsons, granddaughters, wives, husbands, etc. that are students. Please send the information to ijlw@sccoast.net before FEBRUARY 4, 2017, as the cards will be going out for delivery for Valentine’s Day. Thank you very much for your help!!
O LORD, You have examined my heart and know everything about me... Thank You for making me so wonderfully complex... You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in Your book.
Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. — Psalm 139:1,14,16 (NLT)
You may feel it is useless to talk about your grief because no one truly understands what you are going through. “You sometimes feel after an experience like this that you’re talking a foreign language,” says Dora, whose daughter died. “You feel like there’s no way anybody can know what you’re feeling. There is absolutely no way anyone can know the depth of your pain. So you feel like it’s futile to talk about it because words can’t
express the pain.”
Although countless people have experienced grief before you, each person’s response to grief is different. Your path of grief will be uniquely your own. Be encouraged that regardless of how your grief appears to you or
others, it has a precious uniqueness to the One who created you. God, who knows intimately your personality, your relationships, and the experiences of your life, knows your grief and isn’t shocked or surprised by your
responses.
Father, thank You that my way of grieving is distinctly my own, reflective of all You have sovereignly created me to be and experience.
If you know of someone who is hurting, talk with our Pastor: Rev. Bill Childs. He can talk with you about how we can connect the person you know with one of our Stephen Ministers. It’s a great way for you to show how much you care!

Invitation to Genesis—a Short-term Disciple Bible Study
This 10 week study takes groups into the rich tapestry of Genesis exploring the interaction between God and very human people - pride, family relationships, conflict and journey all showcase the best known stories of Creation, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Rebekah and Joseph.
Participants for this Invitation to Genesis do not have to have an in-depth knowledge of the Bible to enjoy and benefit from participation. Reading just two chapters of Genesis a week, they will discover the life altering stories that will invite them to follow Christ as true disciples. Weekly sessions will last about 60 minutes. Sessions:
We will meet on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 PM in the Chapel.
The first session (orientation) will be on Tuesday, January 2, 2018. The first regular session will be on January 16.
Please call or text Mary Shellam Hill (843-333-8091) to sign up.

A NEW BETH MOORE BIBLE STUDY
“The Quest” by Beth Moore begins on Tuesday, January 9, 2018,at 10:00 AM in the Chapel. “The Quest” is a cross between a curriculum and a journal, between a classroom and a prayer closet, with 3 primary objectives: 1. To promote deeper intimacy with God 2. To help foster a sojourner mentality to aid as comfort that we are only passing through this world on our way somewhere else. This is not our home. 3. To foster an adventurer mentality as royal subjects of royal blood unrecognized by the world but headed to an unshakeable kingdom worth the arduous trip (Acts 14:22).
Mark your calendars and join us for this exciting study!
You may pre-register by calling Nancy Anderson at 843-397-5206.

Fifth Sunday Fellowship New Year’s Eve
Just a reminder!! Our next 5th Sunday Fellowship is New Year’s Eve, December 31. Can you believe that? We will meet in the Fellowship Hall at 5:30 PM and we will not have a full meal this time. You are asked to bring any holiday “goodies” that you have left to share with the church family. We will provide drinks and paper products. We will then share in Wesley’s Covenant Renewal Service (a New Year’s Eve tradition among Methodists). This service is brief, but very meaningful—a good way to (spiritually) usher in the new year.
