WRAP Improvement Project for Food Waste Collections

• Barriers survey (doorstep sample)

• Interventions to address barriers

• Monitoring results

Somerset survey (Nov 2013) – main findings

• High service ratings.

• Low users - less satisfied with cost of liners.

• Lapsed users - say mainly due to paying for liners.

• Non-users - some simply need a caddy.

• Free liners - most frequently suggested improvement.

• Somerset respondents most positive about suggested interventions and caring about not wasting too much in the first place.

Taunton Deane - food yields & refuse frequency

(fortnightly) (bin stickers) (3-week refuse trial)

+29%+47%

Key discussion points

1) Importance of refuse frequency?

2) How to maintain participation?

3) Do liners need to be provided?
