Kind Regards Ngā mihi Nui STEPHEN HARRISON Principal 2016 National Standards Result Each year Cotswold School uses National Standards to report:
To students and their parents on individual student achievement and their progress in relation to National Standards, in writing, at least twice a year
To the school community on the achievements of students as a whole and in groups.
We have completed an analysis of this year’s results and are pleased to report that:
87% of Cotswold students are working at or above the relevant standard in Reading
84% of Cotswold students are working at or above the relevant standard in Writing
85% of Cotswold students are working at or above the relevant standard in Mathematics
We also set three specific Achievement Targets for 2016 based on the analysis of our 2015 data.
Target 1: 80% of males (including Maori and Pasifika) to be at, above or well above in writing after two years at school. Our analysis shows that 88% of males (including Maori and Pasifika) are now working at, above or well above in writing after two years at school.

Target 2: 75% of males (including Maori and Pasifika) to be at, above or well above in writing by the end of Year 5. Our analysis shows that 76% of males (including Maori and Pasifika) are now working at, above or well above in writing at the end of Year 5.
Target 3: 75% of Maori students will be achieving at or above the national standard in Mathematics by the end of Year 4. Our analysis shows that 91% of Maori students are now achieving at or above the national standard in Mathematics at the end of Year 4.

Casebrook Intermediate School front field.
Dear students and parents/caregivers, On behalf of the Totaranui Cluster of schools (Redwood-Papanui), we welcome you to a community evening and celebration of our students’ wonderful achievements this year. This event will involve performances from a number of schools in the cluster and several enjoyable and entertaining activities for students to participate in. There will be a range of performances on display to entertain our wonderful community involving singing, dancing, instrumental, and cultural items. Schools will communicate with children and whanau re the level of involvement they will have. Not all schools are able to provide performance items due to other demanding commitments in Term Four. However, everyone is encouraged to come along and enjoy an action-packed evening. There will be raffle tickets, ice creams and a sausage sizzle. The first of each is free to everyone while stocks last- $1 for each after that. Alternatively, please bring a picnic along to eat on the field, or in front of the main outdoor stage area. There will be activities to join in with, such as touch rugby, basketball, tabloid games, and free bouncy castles. This is only the second time this event has been run, and we are after a huge crowd! With so many wonderful performances on offer and great activities for students to participate in, we are sure this will be a wonderful community event and will achieve our goal – to celebrate what our fantastic students have achieved this year and come together as a community. Nga mihi nui, The Cluster Celebration Committee.
If you would like to make a donation towards the raffles, such as non-perishable food, drinks, pamper products, magazines, vouchers etc... please drop these to Mrs Jones in Room 11 by Thursday 10th November. Thank You

If your child (excluding Year 6 children) will not be returning to Cotswold School at the start of 2017, we would love to hear from you so we don't count them in our class structure and placement planning for 2017. The best way you can you this is by completing this form. PARENT ASSOCIATION NEWSLETTER NOVEMBER 2016
Race Night Unfortunately, this event did not take place due to lack of ticket sales. It is very frustrating to have to cancel an event we spent all year preparing for. With over 300 families here at Cotswold School it is disappointing that we sold only 35 tickets. However, a big 'thank you' to all those that brought tickets and were prepared to support us. If you take your ticket to the school office you will receive a full refund of the purchase price. We now have a lot of vouchers and items that were generously donated to us. We will hold a raffle to distribute these fabulous donations. Thank you very kindly to the businesses and individuals that donated items for our race night. At the end of this newsletter is a list of those businesses. We would very much appreciate if you took the time to read through them and keep them in mind if you ever require any of their services. This week each family will be sent home a raffle sheet with 10 tickets to be sold at $3 each. Please keep an eye out for this, all the instructions will be on the sheet. Sausage Sizzle The next day is Wednesday the 23rd November. Sausages are $2 each, purchased before school (8.30-9am) from the hall kitchen window. If you can help with cooking please come at 10.30am to the kitchen or for handout at 12.30pm. *cooking takes about an hour, and hand out about half an hour if you can spare some time For those who were not aware, we will cook for gluten-free students, you must provide the sausages in a named container in the morning, and we will ensure your child gets their sausages heated for handout time. There is no charge for this service (make sure your child has appropriate bread etc in their lunch box, we cannot provide this).
Lunch on Line - www.lunchonline.co.nz Important announcement Unfortunately lunch on line is not making us enough money to continue. We have a few other items in the pipe line for 2017, but regretfully as of the end of Term 1 next year we will not be offering this service. If you have any credit on your account, we suggest you use it up either this term or Term 1 of 2017. Parents Centre Fundraiser – Calendars We have some gorgeous calendars for sale at the office. Printed by the Parents Centre they feature lovely historic Canterbury scenes. Each calendar is $15 each, with $5 of that going to our parents association. A fabulous gift for Christmas! Next Meeting - This will be held in Term 1 of 2017. Dates to be advised.
