    As a Jesuit institution, service is essential to the College’s identity. Holy Cross students connect with the community through volunteerism, teacher-education, service-learning, internships and community service work-study. In these roles students enhance their personal and intellectual growth by forging bonds with members of the community and with one another.

  • EDUCATIONAL FINANCIAL SUPPORT Worcester residents admitted to Holy Cross from families with annual

    incomes below $50,000 received 4-years free tuition. In Fiscal Year 2017, 73 Worcester residents received College-funded grants and scholarships.

    In total, the College provided

    $2.9 MILLIONin scholarships to Worcester students.

    About1/3 of the College’s employees live in Worcester. Worcester-based employees were paid nearly

    $21 MILLION in salaries, wages, and benefits.

    Holy Cross contributes to the economy by hiring local contractors and using local vendors whenever possible. In excess of

    $5.6 MILLION was paid to contractors and vendors

    from Worcester or Worcester County. The College is proud of its history of using

    union labor for its major projects.

    For the fifth consecutive

    year, Holy Cross donated

    $80,000 to the Worcester Public

    Library to support Libby,

    the City’s mobile library.

    The College also announced

    an additional pledge of

    $240,000 to be distributed over

    the next 3 years.

    At its completion, this new

    commitment will bring the

    college’s total donation to

    $640,000 allowing Libby to

    continue serving the

    Worcester community.

    Holy Cross paid an estimated

    $850,000to Worcester in fees and taxes, including:

    $7,800 for fire coverage costs

    $620,000 for water/sewer fees

    $110,000 for police details

    The revitalization efforts of Worcester’s

    downtown were aided by the College’s

    4th consecutive donation of

    $10,000 to support the Worcester Common Oval skating rink.

    The skating rink offers a great recreational venue for

    the families, students, and youth of Worcester.

    Recreation Worcester is a free, year-round, out-of-

    school time program for youth run by the City of

    Worcester. The College has been a proud sponsor

    since 2012. In FY 2017, the College donated

    $10,000 to the program

    (for the 5th consecutive year).

    In addition, the College also made

    $45,963 in financial donations and in-kind services

    to support local non-profit institutions
