• T-Mobile Germany integrated the c.a.r.u.s. XTC Content, Services & Payment Platform in Q1/2001

• In 2002, T-Mobile decided to roll out XTC within the European T-Mobile family.

• The European proof of the international blueprint has been accomplished in 2003:

- T-Mobile Netherlands (September 2003)

- T-Mobile Czech Republic (September 2003)

• The European roll-out was conducted in 2004:

- T-Mobile Austria (July 2004)

- T-Mobile UK (August 2004)

- PTC ERA, Poland (planned for Q4/2004)

• Roll-out in 2005 under discussion for additional T-Mobile affiliates

• Based on the designed XTC blueprint architecture, all implementations have been successfully brought into production in a very short time frame(< 3 months).

Challenges

• Reduced Time-to-Market for new service offerings

• Real-time AAA functionality for Subscriber and Content Provider

• Fraud Prevention and Revenue Assurance

• Support for international service offerings like t-zones or T-Mobile SoundLogo

Lessons learned

• International management of requirements is necessary.

• Earlier organisational setup of international coordination would have prevented regional issues.

• Centralised training and first-level support for all national operators helped to prevent duplication of efforts.

• Establishing round tables for experience exchange helps new operators to understand the product and to prepare themselves.

• Pay-anything with your telephone invoice will become one of the standard payment methods.

• Customers will demand for more services in real-time, like Video Streaming and Online Multiparty Gaming.

• Customers will demand these service wherever they are. Thus new concepts for Content Roaming are required.

• The Content Provider World will grow dramatically, even normal retailing companies will introduce their own Mobile Portals.
