Did You Realize? By: Mrs. YowPre-Algebra
obj. 7.3.a, 7.3.b
Why learn about Angles? Angles of course are a very important concept in geometry.
However, you may not have realized that angles impact our lives in more ways than
we think.
Let me show you some examples….
Did you realize. . . Angles are a part of your favorite sport?
There is an angle tackle in football! Quarterbacks pass at an angle to the receiver!
Did you realize. . . Outfielders run at an angle to catch the ball?
Did your realize . . . Drivers and Pilots use angles?
A pilot maneuvers an airplane using a variety of angles to fly and land.
When parking a car a driver uses the concept of angles to park in a particular space.
Chefs chop at an angle?
X-Gamers spin their bikes at an angle.
X-Games
A contractor uses angles to build a house, a school, or any structure.
A nurse adjusts a bed to create an angle that is comfortable for a patient.
Umbrella’s can be tilted at an angle in order to stop rain, snow, or provide shade.
Here are some more examples.
Angles are formed by intersecting lines…..TRANSVERSAL LINES….also
A transversal line intersects two or more lines in a plane.
It is helpful to us when the intersected lines are parallel (like the ones pictured)!

What is a Transversal?
A transversal is a line that crosses 2 parallel lines.
(8 angles are formed by a transversal)
The red line is the transversal!
Find the Transversal.
Find the Transversal.
All of these have transversals.

When are corresponding, alternate interior, alternate exterior, etc. angles NOT be equal to each other?
