BEHIND THE FLAMEBowser’s Story

Hi, I’m Bowser. You may know me as the “bad guy” from

the Super Mario games. But I’m not a bad guy.

I’m just misunderstood.

See, it all started when I planned a trip to the

Mushroom Kingdom. I had always dreamed of taking

a vacation there, and thought it was one of the most

beautiful places I had ever seen.

Visit Mushroom Kingdom

However, when we arrived, the people of the Mushroom

Kingdom mysteriously began turning into boxes. I was

mortified. Could this have been my fault somehow?

?

I knew the Princess would know what to do, so I found her

and pleaded with her to help set things right. She agreed

and I graciously housed her in my castle while we figured

things out.

Meanwhile, I heard rumors of a red plumber man jumping

on my friend’s heads and hurting them.

I was very frightened and concerned, so I made

sure the Princess was safe deep within my castle.

I even personally guarded her quarters.

But it was no use. The mustachioed terror had beaten

up all my friends and somehow made it through my

defenses. It was just me and him.

“Bowser!” the Princess cried out, “

I figured out how we can save everybody!”

!

“Princess, stay back!” I screamed.

!

Now I’m not a violent person. But I am very protective

of my friends. So I began stomping around and blowing

fire at the little man.

He drew nearer and nearer, and I was on the verge of

capturing him, when oh no! I mis-timed my jump and he

scurried past me, hitting the emergency bridge shutdown.

I fell into the fiery lava below, as Mario rushed to

grab the Princess.

It took months to recover, but I was tough and I made it. The

Princess came by the castle to make sure I was okay, but

every time she comes to visit, Mario bursts in to kidnap her

away again.

What kind of monster kidnaps a Princess that many times?

It has to have been at least 15 times!

I still see Mario at the races, or sometimes playing

tennis or golf. I’ve tried to tell him I’m not such a bad

guy, but he won’t listen.

?

Maybe he’ll read this and one day learn to accept me.

But until then, I guess I’ll just continue to be the

“bad guy”.
