BilbaoExhibition Centre

Bilbao is growing beyond itstraditional boundaries. BilbaoExhibition Centre (BEC) hasbeen the new exhibition centrefor Bilbao, Bizkaia and Euskadisince 2004. Although the BEC isin Barakaldo, we can appreciatethe renovation both of Bilbaoproper, as well as the GreaterMetropolitan Bilbao.

The Bizkaia Arana Pavilion, one

of six pavilions, was designed on

an open-plan space without any

columns or physical barriers with

a capacity of over 20,000 people.

Provincial Government of Bizkaia, Basque Government, BarakaldoCity Hall, Chamber of Commerce of Bilbao and Bilbao City Hall alljoined forces as partners of the BEC to ensure the new exhibitioncentre would offer more possibilities than the old exhibition hall inBilbao. The 98 m. high BEC tower stands ostentatiously on the leftbank, an area which has presented no problems in accompanyingBilbao's architectural development.
