Holiday Benevolence MarketThe Holiday Benevolence Market began in 1994 as a joint venture between First Presbyterian member Mary Burton and the First Presbyterian Outreach committee. In 2003, other Athens congregations joined. This year, 8 congregations and the United Way are participating, and 30 nonprofit organizations are represented at the market.
What is a Symbolic Gift?wA symbolic gift is a donation that helps a non-profit agency based in the Athens area continue its work
throughout the year.
wEach of our 30 participating agencies has listed needed items with a suggested donation.
wCheck off the items you would like to give from the shopping list, add the totals, and write a single check to the Holiday Benevolence Market to give to the cashier as you leave.
wWe accept credit cards. A 3% surcharge will be added to credit card purchases.
wRetain a copy of your donation sheet for your tax records. Your donation will be paid to the agencies you choose at the end of December.
If you would like a card to share a symbolic gift with a friend or loved one, they are available to purchase at the cashier desk.
