NEXUS PLANNING | Position Description
TITLE:Community Fellow
JOB SUMMARY:
A Community Fellow is a neighborhood representative paid part-time by Concordia LLC to assist in the implementation of a community planning project. Community Fellows are members of the community who provide an important link to the community throughout the planning and implementation phases of a community development project.
Community Fellows act as Alexandria community tour guides during the planning, design, and development processes. Fellows will work with two primary groups - the Meeting Participants and Concordia. A Fellow is a primary source of neighborhood information and local knowledge, and also serves as a liaison between clients, project consultants and the community.
Concordia will conduct workshops as part of the Fellow’s training to relay accurate, detailed information about the planning and design process. All of the Fellow’s work will be done in close coordination with Concordia and the client. The Fellow helps to recruit a balanced representation of citizens as meeting participants and allow them enough familiarity with the process so that they can explain it to their neighbors and other community members. Finally, the Fellow guides the Meeting Participants through the process while serving as a neutral party to the community.
