Chapter 12Chapter Organization

The AFC Chapter has a large institutional structure to manage in theBroward County area with three main campuses and five satellite centers.

At the head of the organization is the AFC Broward president presidingover all of the volunteer officers and members. Campus vice presidents areactive members working from each of the campuses and centers. Twomembership chairs ensure active recruitment at many college events. Twosecretaries make sure minutes and current information is available to all.A treasurer keeps track of budgetary needs. The legislative representativeadvocates for all members while keeping the chapter abreast of all eventstaking place in Tallahassee.

Minutes of the May 3, 2010 FACC Board Meeting

Location: Briny

I. Welcome and Introductions The meeting was called to order at 12.10 pm. Present were Anne Berman, Aiyeesha Candelaria, Emilia Colageo, Rick Leffel, Jim Lansing, Beverly Walker, and Xiao Wang.

II. Minutes Approved as read.

III. Old Business A. By-Laws and Responsibilities of Officers – Anne put the by-laws on our

website. Rick suggested that she send a collegewide email letting everyone know the site is there.

B. Region V Conference – Xiao said that eight people did not turn in their TDA on time.

C. Membership – Aiyeesha and Angel Rodriguez were trying to arrange for an FACC presentation at the new faculty orientation in August. Rick reported that WHC will hold a potluck in June or July.

D. Membership Conference – We are being asked to provide food for the cocktail party. Xiao will check with Marsha Kiner regarding the number of people and the amount of food.

E. FACC Book scholarship – Beverly will email the previous application to Anne and she will put it on the website.

F. PTS Retreat – Beverly will get the bagels and apples for the PTS retreat.

IV. Other Business A. Faculty Commission – Angel Rodriguez was a semi-finalist for the Faculty

Commission of Professor of the Year award and it was suggested that we present him with a plaque recognizing his achievement.

B. Next Meeting – The next board meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 29 at 8:30 am at South Campus.

V. Adjournment The meeting was adjourned at 1:27 pm.
