cepts of balance, gravity, and weight in a fun and simple way.

FLOWTh is project, sponsored by Herman Miller explores the need for
specialized offi ce systems in design fi rms who enroll employees
in distance education courses.
Th e Herman Miller Company
sponsored my third year product
design studio to design an offi ce
system specialized for design
students enrolled in distance
education courses. I worked in a
group of 11 other students through
a process of research, design,
and development. We developed
research strategies and determined
our user group. Th rough design,
we tackled many issues not yet
addressed in distance education,
the offi ce, and a studio setting.
Finally we developed our ideas and,
thus, this is FLOW; an offi ce system
inspired by the design process itself.
Th is project was presented at the
Kansas City Design Center to
professionals from Herman Miller.
It also received an Outstanding
Presentation award at the Kansas State
University Undergraduate Research
Competition this year. I represented
my team for both presentations.
