Sunday, August 13 - 6:00 PM Service Special Guest: Cory Singleton, Worship and Creative Pastor
Journey Church, Summerville, SC
We are very excited to announce that Cory Singleton, Pastor Laneir and Connie’s son, will be joining us on Sunday evening August 13th. Our kids have had Cory as Camp Pastor at White Oak. Cory and his wife, Allison, are graduates of Charleston Southern University and South-western Seminary. He was worship leader at Jackson Baptist Church and Wellford Baptist Church before becoming youth associate with the South Carolina Baptist Convention. After serving with the state convention for over 10 years, he joined the staff at Journey Church, Sum-merville as worship and creative pastor. For the past year, he and Allison have served there with their 3 children—Ava, Tate, and Zoe.
Cory will lead us in worship and then a time of fellowship for our youth group will follow in the Fellowship Hall!
INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION
Join us Sunday – July 2nd at 11:00 AM for a special Independence Day Celebration… Our Christian freedom came at a high cost and so did living in a free country. While things are not the way we believe they should be today, we are still one nation under God and we still have a reason to celebrate. God Bless America!

A special thank you to all of you who served in VBS this year.. whether teaching, administrating, cooking, crafting, singing, playing or praying… YOU are the real modern day heroes of the faith! These children get to see what Jesus looks like in the flesh by your service. Pray for the deci-sions that were made this week and the seeds that were planted. We had a total enrollment of 256 and 36 professions of faith. We are already look-ing forward to next year!

TRASH PICK UP
W e are still in need of volunteers for our group from the church dedicated to picking up litter/trash on Hwy #321 in our town on four assigned Saturdays during the year. Our highways are constantly in need of litter removal, and
we are making a difference as we go into our community representing our church. Please consider joining us on our next pick up date, August 26th. With more dedicated volunteers, our task can be com-pleted much quicker. Anyone 18 or older is urged to join our group. Our last Saturday pick up, we had 8 committed vol-unteers, with the average age of our group being 60 years old. SIXTY! We need some youthful participants! Also, dur-ing the summer months we will begin earlier in the morning to avoid the heat. We are grateful to several restaurants in Gaston that have generously offered to provide food and/or refreshments to our group after our pick-ups. We are always open to suggestions on ways to improve this project. Any suggestion, questions or addition information, see Collette Knight, Margie Rish or me. Thank you in advance for considering joining us. —David Rish

In her lat-ter years she became homebound, but continued to support her church. She will be missed greatly by her children, and church family.
Dear Church Family, We are grateful for each act of kindness you have shown before, during and after the homegoing of our mother, Wilma Collette Sharpe Pound. She truly loved her church, community and country and always tried to set an example of how to love as Jesus did. We are blessed! —The Kinard and Wilma Pound family.
