priorities. Your consultant takes care of everything, from
quoting, advising on and sourcing your vehicles, through
to trade-in, delivery and follow-up.
Your consultant will be there for you, personally attending
to your needs and readily available to advise you on any

day when calculating fringe benefits tax which results in
overpayment of tax. LogbookMe automatically tracks and
monitors employee car park usage, reporting on whether

A client is based in NSW, they have 21 employee parking spots. The taxable daily rate is $9. By using LogbookMe,
the client has saved significantly on FBT by choosing the parking register rather than the statutory method.

The Facts
The client has 50 cars that were all using Statutory Formula Method due to the lack of internal process to facilitate
and collect valid logbooks from employees. All cars are now using Operating Cost Method (OCM). The FBT liability
on the OCM is calculated based on the business use percentage provided by the LogbookMe device.
An average annual operating cost (GST inclusive) per car is $10,260 and the business use percentage range is from
63% to 96%. The fleet has the same cars with FBT base value (GST inclusive) at $40,000.

What exactly is LogbookMe?
LogbookMe is a cloud-based online platform, which logs
your vehicles trips for FBT reporting purposes. It uses an
external GPS device, which is easily installed in your car
to send information to your account in real-time. At the
end of your logbook period, you simply download a PDF
report which shows your business use percentage ready
to be sent to the ATO.
Is the device compatible with my car?
The device is compatible with all production vehicles
manufactured after 1996. It is plug and play and installation
requires no tools or modifications to your vehicle at all. If
you’re not sure if your vehicle is compatible, just get in
touch with us and we’ll confirm it with you.
LogbookMe doesn’t require any installation or impact vehicle
warranties. It is plug and play and can easily be unplugged at
the end of the logbook period leaving no trace of the logbook
in the car.
How accurate is the data?
LogbookMe uses a combination of GPS locations and
actual vehicle diagnostic data to record the mileage of
a trip with little or no variance with the odometer in your
vehicle. Other logbook apps or devices, which only use
GPS tracking are subsequent to variances because of corner
cutting and loss of GPS signal in tunnels or areas with no signal.
Is the device obstructive?
LogbookMe lives in the car and once installed is out of
sight and out of mind. It doesn’t need to occupy your
cigarette lighter charging point or require any adhesive
on your console or dash. It also wirelessly sends data
automatically so you never need to take it out of the car
to do an upload or worry about cables.
I’m worried about device installation.
LogbookMe is simple to self-install. Generally, installation
takes an average person less than 2 minutes and we
provide video tutorial guides to help out with step-by-
step commentary. When we call it ‘plug and play’ we
mean it literally.
The calendar integration is cool, but is it hard to configure?
Everything is super easy and setup is automated. In most
cases the calendar feature will configure itself the first
time the user uses LogbookMe. If there are any issues
our support team is on hand to help.
Is this product ATO compliant?
Yes. LogbookMe has been approved by the ATO (CR2014/27).
What happens at the end of the logbook period?
Once you’ve finished logging, download your logbook in
PDF or CSV and send to your accountant or fleet manager.
Your logbook will be stored in our secure cloud server for
5 years and you can access it anytime you need. Then,
simply send the device back in the LogbookMe supplied
postage paid envelope and we will recycle it.
I’m concerned about Privacy.
This is something that is regularly raised especially with the
new Privacy Act amendments applying from March 2014.
LogbookMe has an extensive Privacy Statement that
we believe is compliant with the Privacy Commissioners
guidelines and more broadly the Privacy Act.
Further, by way of design, LogbookMe have balanced the
requirement for individual user privacy with the need for
third parties (such as employers, the ATO, etc) to utilise
the information collected and processed in LogbookMe.

How are you different to all the other logbook apps?
LogbookMe tried all the apps on the market and
discovered there was one underlying problem – it still
required you to do most of the work.
Typically the user needs to remember to start the app
every time they want to start a trip. The app has to run
for the whole duration of the trip, draining the phone’s
battery at the same time. Then the user has to remember
to end the trip upon arrival (while rushing off to wherever
they need to go!).
LogbookMe also found that the GPS accuracy and the
time taken to find the initial location resulted in the trip
information being incorrect or incomplete.
The LogbookMe device overcomes all of these constraints
by collecting all the data automatically from the vehicle,
which enhances the accuracy of the trip records and the
driver doesn’t need to worry about forgetting to start or
stop the log. It even notifies you on our app at the end of
each trip.
The calendar integration overcomes the need to try and
remember what you were doing to classify all the trips
at a later date – just review the feed from your calendar
descriptions and it’s all done for you!
LogbookMe also gives users the flexibility to just drive
then classify the trips at a later time when it’s convenient
for them. All the data is collected and stored safely in the
cloud.
Is there an issue if I change cars part way through?
The class ruling recognises this issue and there is no issue
with the transfer of the device from one vehicle to another.
Simply unplug it and then re-plug it in your new car!

What if the device doesn’t work – is there a warranty?
We look after the device for the life of your logbook. If
it stops working we will either troubleshoot with you or
deploy a new device within a day.
